I can't actually speak on the quality of the food here as I didn't get a chance to eat it. My husband and I decided to check this place out on our lunch break yesterday, we love a good hole-in-the-wall. Upon entering, the owner (I presume) was friendly and recommended a couple dishes, which we ordered (Chicken Tikka and Biryani, I think). I asked if the dishes were served with naan, and was told yes. I assumed both dishes would also be served with rice (they were not, but I should have read the menu more carefully).
We sat in the mostly empty restaurant (only 2 other guests present when we arrived) and proceeded to wait over 30 minutes for our food. I ended up having to ask them to package our food To-Go. (I was told "good Indian food takes time," but I have never waited that long at Sitar and it's always fantastic.) We waited another 10 minutes before paying and leaving with our food. Unfortunately after driving away we realized the food was packaged in a single to-go container, so my husband and I had no way to split the food up between us when he dropped me off at my office. Also, only one of the dishes came with rice. The "naan" was not naan, but pizza crust (they also serve pizza, so I understand this being more cost effective, but if you are expecting traditional naan, this is not it).
Since we had no additional container to put my food in, my husband just took the food back to his office and I went without. The total for our two meals and 2 bottled waters was over $40. A disappointing lunch experience, to say the least.
My husband said the food was "fine." We can't speak for the pizza though, so maybe that is what has kept them in business for 35 years. The owners do seem very sweet and I wish...
Read morePizza is fine, truly nothing special. They also refused to honor the pizza coupons listed on their website. They proposed charging $37 more than what the total with 9.75% tax would be if you look at their website. They said that their rent had increased, materials were more expensive. I do not doubt that--costs on everything are insane right now--but if that's the case, then they need to update their pricing so their customers aren't taken by surprise. They said no one else but me had ever been frustrated by them not honoring the prices listed on their website, that every other person who does carry out just confirms the price beforehand and is fine with it...As you can see from other one star reviews, prices are relative for this store. ...
Read moreFood was great. It is actually pizza and Indian food. Unusual combo but it works! Not really a 'full' Indian menu like in a full-blown Indian restaurant but still a nice selection. My girlfriend had a stromboli and I had curry beef. This is only the second time I have seen beef available in an Indian restaurant (yes, apparently some parts of India have beef dishes - mostly where the population is mostly Muslim instead of Hindu). The beef was great. Noticebly spicy (and I am a chile' head) - which in my mind was perfect. Didn't come with rice but came with a plateful of very good pita bread to dip up the rich, gravy-like sauce. We will go back! We saw a pizza go to another table and it looked...
