They have always kept leopard geckos on reptile carpet, but have recently put them on calcium sand. not only will this stain the geckos, it causes impaction and is extremely painful and will kill the geckos. despite the idea that "leopard geckos live on sand in the wild", they actually live on ROCKY deserts with SLATE ROCKS, not sand. the pet supplies plus on kingston pike keeps theirs on sand as well. and as for the hermit crabs with calcium sand and painted shells, they are highly sensitive to chemicals and every crab i have had to save from your store has ended up dying of malnutrition in the first week or soaked too much in the salt water because its glands are messed up. SAND IS NOT JUST SAND, calcium sand is disgusting and contains harsh chemicals and dyes. if you put playsand in water, it acts like sand. add water to calcium sand, and it turns into cement. you really want your animals ingesting that? Put the geckos on reptile carpet, the crabs on eco earth (since you can't use playsand from home depot apparently), the bearded dragons on reptile carpet, the snakes on aspen bedding (snake bedding), and everyone else on eco earth. it's not that hard to work with what you have WISELY, now you're just being completely arrogant. I went there on 10/3/2021, to get a heat lamp for my tortoise. As I was standing in line I was speaking to one of the employees about advantage and advantix for my animals ,that I'd ordered online and was scared about trying these products.( Tried Frontline plus, and definitely didn't work)my animals are inside and still have fleas(errrrr) I asked if that advantix was actually pretty safe for the dogs and cats she said not for the cats because it has a product in it that's dangerous. Well I THOUGHT, I had ordered advantix for my cat (I had ordered advantage) I spent hours online looking at different ones the day before, from Chewy and had forgot which one I had order for my cat.🤦🏼‍♀️ Looking at reviews also ,but she had the knowledge and told me correctly the advantix is dangerous for cats and that they don't sell it. We got our daughter her first aquariums was so excited to pick she set up her aquarium 5 gallons almost a week ago . She is so happy then we get to the closest pet store. We are told immediately they can't guarantee any fish for a 5 gallon aquarium. Ok,#1 I didn't ask , #2 who gets 4 and 6 dollar fish guarantees? They took something so special and made my daughter feel awful. Telling how badly the fait people treat their fish? We wouldn't have gotten any fish without doing our homework. #3 I am well over 40 chances are I have had aquariums older than the kids telling me and my 8 year old how we are going to kill her tiger placo and singel bubbel eye. Neither fish is an inch long. She felt so guilty 😔. We even said at first mention we weren't worried about any guarantees on these fish. The cashier looks dumbfounded when they say put my initials on the receipt so they can't bring thes dead fish back.
