Little Tokyo Cafe — Restaurant in Knoxville

The search continues...for a great sushi place to become our fav! This is definitely not the one. Table service was about a 15 minute wait, so we started to have high hopes, but those dropped quickly. We ordered drinks and our apps. The busser was quick to get the drinks. He did tell our waiter about our app order. The gyoza was decent, semi soft with a crispy edge. The spring rolls, which came much later were burning hot inside, slightly burnt but cold outside and covered in sauces. Trying to hide something??? The little plates they gave us were all dirty. One of them has a good size piece of lettuce stuck to it, gross 😝 We ordered sushi so I cannot comment on the hibachi. Let the waiter know that I have a shellfish allergy and I clearly marked it next to my rolls that I was ordering per the waiters recommendations. I ordered a sushi roll and a fried sushi roll. My husband also ordered a sushi roll and fried sushi roll of different kinds. To our shock and surprise the 2 fried rolls were on the same plate. And our non-fried rolls were one the same plate. WHAT? I'm just lucky that my husband didn't order something with shellfish in it, or should I say they are lucky. We've never seen that before and we're just dumbfounded. We waited almost 10 minutes for our sons order to arrive. Which were not gonna eat while our son sits and watches. The containers they gave us for the soy sauce were also filthy and we could not use them. The sushi rolls were all covered with sauces and it made it hard to taste the actual roll. And when we were about half way through our rolls the waiter brought us "soup", which he said he was going to bring us at the stadt of the meal. It was chicken stock with one slice of mushroom and some small pieces of I dont know what. The deco is older and in need of repair/ replacement. Overall, very unimpressed and not worth the $$$ spent on this meal. We won't...

The hostess was the most friendliest as we walked in the door. Asked what we'd like to drink. The waiter came gave us some in you. We was told this was a good place to eat so we're going to give it a try. They said that there are very generous with their proportions. So order off the children's menu. My friend that was with me wanted to order off the children's menu. Was told flat out that we didn't have children and we couldn't order off the children's menu period we had to order off of the side. So we order the meal Hibachi steak and rice. The soup came came out was mushroom and chives. It tasted more like chicken bouillon soup from the cubes. The salad was more lettuce than anything small bowl with both of them. The meal came out the plate was room temperature feeling to it. Smelled good and looked pretty good. I ordered it with brown rice steak it was supposed to be medium and the vegetables were opposed to be slightly cooked with a crunch. The steak was overdone and chewy the vegetables were soggy. The brown rice had a sour taste type to it. For the service my friend asked where the restrooms were at. Instead of showing her where they were at they just point it off in the direction and said they're over there. But yet when it comes time to pay them for the meal. The waiter seemed will be worried more about what the tip was then what the service was. As going out the two Hostess was really nice and said have a nice day the rest of the staff didn't hardly talk. Well I go there again probably not well I recommend it probably not. I just had dinner here tonight. The ONLY reason I am giving this 2 stars and not 1 is the food. The food is really good which is unfortunate because the staff was terrible. We decided to eat at a regular table instead of a hibachi table. First off I ordered my salad with ranch and i get a salad smothered in shrimp sauce. Now that wasn't a huge deal to me and i didnt even say anything and its not why I am frustrated but it did add to it. Besides that and him barely talking to us the whole time we were there, my frustration actually came at the end of the meal. I had ordered a ribeye and shrimp hibachi which was $18.99. At the end of the meal I requested a box to take the remainder home for lunch the next day. He brought the box to me. I didn't put my food in the box right away because we were still chatting at our table and I was still picking at my plate. The staff member came back and without one word grabbed my plate to take it away. I said I'm still going to box that and pointed to my box and he grabbed the box too, walked over to trash and dumbed the whole thing. It was so rude and unprofessional. There was a decent amount of food on my plate! This ignorant employee should have seen the amount of food and asked if I was finished or maybe me asking for a to go box should have clued him in. If I'm paying nearly $20 for one plate of food I expect to not have the majority of it thrown in the trash. He wasted my money and put a bad taste in my mouth. I will NEVER return here again. It was so incredibly unprofessional. He acted as if he just wanted to hurry and clean so he could leave, but we were holding him...
