This was my second time at the school. I usually use Aveda and have always loved it but decided to give another one a chance. Both times I went for a cut and color. The first time, I was there for 8 hours and the girl didnât even finish. The color was all uneven and the haircut never even happened. She told me I had to go to Sally Beauty with her and finish it at her house! I knew I shouldnât have gone back again but itâs been 2 years and I couldnât get in anywhere else on short notice. I made an appointment over the phone and came in at 5:30pm. I explained what happened last time and that I was nervous. This time I was here for over 4 hours. I signed up for a base color and the instructor told the student that she could do high/low lights but it would cost more. They seemed confident so I let them do it. First mistake. Second mistake? They asked me to pay half way through the appointment. I wanted a light caramel brown/blonde. My hair was already pretty white so this shouldâve been easy. By the time 9:30pm rolled around my hair was dark brown and totally one color. She told me it was just because it was wet. I wanted to believe her. Then, it was time to START my haircut. After they closed. This is where things started to fall apart for me emotionally. Nobody asked me how I wanted my hair cut. The student tried and I give her the benefit of the doubt, but it was obvious they just wanted me to leave. The instructor told the student just to cut off one inch. I told her I wanted two. So then the instructor came over and just started cutting it without talking to me at all. I had a very specific way I wanted it cut. Angled towards the back. Not hard, but specific. She never even asked then just cut it straight until saying âdid you have this styled before because it looks angled?â And I tried not to yell âYESâ and instead said, âYes, I always have a face frame angled towards the back and I want that again.â It was too late for them to blow dry or style so they offered me a free pass to come back and get it styled but that just didnât make any sense to me and I just desperately wanted to leave and felt bad that it was so late and they were still there. I shouldnât have. I didnât make the appointment and it shouldnât have taken that long anyway. This was not my fault. I got home and put it in a towel because it was still soaking wet. I went to bed and hoped I was overreacting and it would look better when dry. Iâm mortified. Itâs extremely dark brown, all one dull color. And the cut is angled towards the FRONT and makes me look like the worlds ugliest 10 year old. Iâve had bad haircuts and colors before. I usually let it go. But the way this all played out just makes me feel so used and uncared for. The upcharge, the lack of communication during the appointment, how long it took (to not even finish it or do it the way I wanted), it is just too much to ignore. Iâm getting married and really was hoping to do this to fix my hair for the ceremony and now I just wish I can get that money back and go somewhere else. I will DEFINITELY not be coming back here again. Highly recommend Aveda to anyone else looking to support a local school. *edit to add I called to see if I can get some compensation towards a redo since it was their mistake on the color. The instructor said âI only used a semi permanent, just wash it out.â She only used a semi and charged me $50 and then just told me to wash it!!!!â To reiterate:...
Read moreI was booked for a service and we ended up adding two additional services to the one I was booked for. My stylist did my consultation, and did my hair perfectly. During my appointment, her instructor never spoke to us, not once. While I was under a heat lamp, her instructor (who I had never met, spoken to, etc) went over to her station, wrote something on my paper (that lists my information and service) then walked away. Again, never speaking to us. When we got back to her station, we see the instructor (Ronda) wrote down additional services, one of which was incorrect. How would she know what to write if she never talked to us or did a consultation with me? My stylist said we can get that fixed before I paid, so it didnât seem like a big deal. At the end of my appointment, the instructor finally spoke to me to simply ask if I liked my hair, that's it. We went to the front desk to pay and the student working the desk was about to charge me for the service before realizing things got added. The salon manager (Lisa) then came to ask what was done, & my stylist told her, along with adding the fact that the instructor wrote things down without asking us. I paid for what I got done. When asked if i wanted to leave a tip, my stylist told me l didn't have to tip her, but l insisted and gave her cash. About an hour later I got word saying she's been suspended. The instructor lied about multiple things (essentially saying my stylist tried to be sneaky and not charge me for things when in reality, they were the ones trying to charge me for something I didnât even get done) and the director never asked my stylist or me, the client, if anything was true and suspended her based off lies. I drove 30 minutes back to the school to speak with the director (Chad) but he refused because he was busy getting a haircut. I was repulsed by everything I witnessed and sent him an email trying to explain what actually happened. Zero response from Chad and only a few BS words from Stephan. Maybe if ALL the people who run the school actually went to beauty school, they would know how to do things around here. Remember, every five star review you give about your family member enrolled here, gives false hope to outsiders that this is a good school. Please give them a âfive star reviewâ in person rather than supporting this tragic excuse of a school! đ©·
edit: I came immediately after their insanely short meeting and not after hours, it only ran into after hours after I was already inside and was told to speak to someone who was not involved nor had any control of the situation. No procedures were broken during my visit (by my stylist at least) so not sure what that has to do with anything, which wouldâve been obvious if anyone in charge maturely took control of the problem that was caused by...
Read moreI have been going to TSB now for a couple years for haircuts and styling. I have had a great experience with each student I've been with, especially with the time and attention they give to you every step of the way, from your initial consultation to your final styling.
Most recently, I made an appointment prior to my wedding and had a color retouch that didn't turn out exactly as I expected. As a note, my stylist was absolutely wonderful and took her time through the whole process so result this was no fault of her's. I went home to see if it was something I could live with, and when I realized I wasn't completely comfortable with the color, I called back and was directed to the Director of Operations, Chad. Chad was extremely kind and understanding, not only taking the time to hear my concerns, but walking me through what may have happened and how they could correct the color if I needed.
After taking the weekend to think it over, I called back on Tuesday morning and had an appointment scheduled the same day. Chad personally met me at the door and connected me with one of their best senior students to complete the color correction. Not only was he a part of the consultation, but he checked on me throughout each step of the process. He made sure he was completely comfortable with the result and that me and my stylist felt the same way. I am truly so thankful for the students that completed my treatments (Milana and Raelyn), the students at the desk who were so kind and understanding, and for Chad's professionalism, attention, and compassion. I will be returning here in the future for my cuts and color and would recommend this school, not only for the value, but for the...
