Subway — Restaurant in Knoxville

Food was fine.

Employees were not fine. I get that Subway likely pays minimum wage and that good help is impossible to find or whatever.

Came in to a dirty dining room, every single table was filthy, both employees sitting around at tables in the dining room, as if the restaurant was spotless.

They were having a maximum-volume conversation and didn’t stop until after they’d both walked around to their work positions.

Both employees did their jobs for as long as it took to make the required food, and then instantly went back to their top-volume personal conversation with customers eating in the dining room.

One thing I did not come in to the store and pay for was to be serenaded by very-loud complaining by employees who should be cleaning.

I had to clean my own table just to sit down and eat my food.

Why do you pay your employees? Do you pay them to work and do their jobs? Or do you pay them to not clean, and to treat your customers to vocal complaining-sessions while they eat?

Please; a little professionalism. Again, I realize this is fast food. And the food was fine.

It’s the environment. It’s the image. The old restaurant adage is still as true today as it was many many years ago, “if you’ve got time to lean, you’ve got time to clean”. Someone needs to let today’s employees know about this adage.

Not to mention the awful state of both employees’ dress. Surely we can do better than shirts with giant holes in them. Are we homeless folks or are we restaurant employees? No customer wants to see that.

Everyone has life problems and complaints. Everyone. The difference between employees who last and employees who don’t is professionalism.

Didn’t see any of that today. Whatsoever. At all.

There is an African American girl who works there around lunch time she is so sweet, patient and nice she makes my sandwiches most of the time (Which are the BEST) she always has a smile on her face everytime I come in, the line could be out the door and she is still so very welcoming to every customer so I make it my duty to tip her every time. They messed up my sandwiches pretty badly tonight. Neither sandwiches were toasted or had much topping especially with the veggies on them. Got maybe five peppers on my whole footlong. Very thin and compressed sandwiches. The first sandwich was an Italian BMT but had no ham and the wrong cheese- pepper jack instead of white American. Second sandwich was a Spicy Italian that had added meatballs, marinara, and ranch??? It didn’t have the garlic aioli I ordered on it though.
