I wasn’t planning on stopping, but the Kohler Design Center caught my eye as I passed through town—and wow, I’m glad I turned around. From the moment I walked in, it felt like I’d stumbled into a designer’s dream playground. Every corner is packed with beautifully curated displays of Kohler’s latest creations, from sleek modern faucets (like that ultra-minimal black Kallista one!) to over-the-top spa-style shower setups that made me want to redesign my entire bathroom on the spot.
One of the most impressive setups was this massive stone-tiled shower wall with dual rain heads, body sprays, and even a steam option—seriously, it felt like a high-end spa. Just a few steps away, I found a stunning sculptural bathtub nestled beside a cozy fireplace and huge windows. The natural light in this space made the whole thing feel both elegant and soothing. Even the double sink vanity with its wavy mirror and playful lights added a fun, artistic touch.
But the surprise highlight? The Kohler Museum downstairs. It's way more than a company archive—it dives into the family history, design innovations, and even Kohler’s contributions during wartime. I found myself unexpectedly moved by how deep the roots of this brand run.
The place was busy but not overwhelming, with plenty of room to browse and explore. I only wish my wife had been there—this is totally her kind of place, full of design inspiration and cool vintage pieces like colorful toilets and sinks from decades past. Definitely one of those “hidden in plain sight” stops that ends up being a highlight...
Read moreEnjoyed seeing all the design elements and bold styling. Was very disappointed at the quality of some of the displays. I expected higher standards from Kohler. One the fixture looked old worn and hasn't been cleaned in years. Another display of knobs showed poor craftmenship because one knob the inlay was not flush with the metal, the next one the inlay stuck up in a different place and a third the inlay was flush as I would expect. One of the working models appeared to have rusting metal and a different inlet looked like algee was growing on it. Many displays under construction and my hope is that they will be exciting, fresh and back to the high quality expected of Kohler. I own several Kohler products in my home and am very happy with them. Just disappointed in the sloppy upkeep of the...
Read moreWas recommended to visit the "basement" of the Kohler design center to learn about the amazing history of Kohler products/toilets and see antique samples. During our first visit in fall of 2022 this part of the building was completely closed due to renovations. We were told to come back the following year. Upon our return in June 2023 the basement was partially open displaying the family tree and how the company is involved in clean water supply around the world. Still no antique toilets! If you are interested in buying new products, the design center is definitely worth visiting. If you are there for learning the history, it is not worth the trip...
