Overrated, over priced, and left hungry and disappointed. Iāve never sent so much uneaten food back to the kitchen. A far cry from the touted excellence of all things āKohlerāā¦
We frequent fine dining restaurants, and decided to be bold and order the chef tasting menus. One regular, one vegetarian.
While all gorgeously plated, most of our dishes were bland or boring and lacked purpose and focus. The gnocchi for my main course was tough and flavorless. The āPotato Fried Riceā was absent of both potato and rice. 𤨠Rather, a pile of stir-fried vegetables I could make at home. The scallops were undercooked, though beautifully seared on one side. The soup (without crab for the vegetarian menu) was overwhelmingly SOUR; maybe too heavy handed on whatever cream was used to finish the soup? The āState fairā āfunnel cakeā was crunchy. Like a bowl of cereal. Not crispy and soft as a state fair funnel cake should be.
We most enjoyed the laminated rolls with smoked tomato butter š¤¦āāļø Following behind the rolls was the Whatchamicallit dessert.
We can look past disappointing food with steep prices if the service is impeccable⦠sadly, it was far from such. Sara our lead server was staunch and coldābefitting of their gray uniforms. She made no effort to make us feel warm and welcome. Abigail was sweet and made us laugh with her quirks, but lacked professionalism for the fine dining setting. Jakob was attentive and you could tell heāand Abigailāwere trying hard to please us, but possibly lacked hospitality training to connect the dots and make our experience above and beyond.
The dining room was cozy, but no amount of ambiance can make up for the food...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have tried emailing the restaurant privately about this incident but have never heard back. I am posting my experience here.
I came to Immigrant Restaurant excited and with high expectations for my 30th birthday and I overall left very dissatisfied and disappointed.
My husband planned almost a month in advanced to have a surprise birthday cake come at the end of our dinner. At the very end of our meal, it never came. My husband had to ruin the surprise for me, and get the manager over to ask about our cake. They brought it out, but didnāt even bring any sort of candles so we could celebrate. They just quickly packaged it up.
I understand miscommunications happen anywhere. However, for the amount we were paying and for the evening this should not have happened.
Also, I splurged and decided to get the truffle tagliatelle pasta for one of my courses. I was in denial at the restaurant but it was honestly incredibly bland and underwhelming. I didnāt get any of the aged cheese taste in the dish and it was just far too oily. Definitely not worth the $75 upcharge.
I didnāt say anything initially because I was trying to be positive for my birthday as my husband worked so hard to put this together. Iām hoping you take this feedback into consideration...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe Immigrant Room was one of my favorite restaurants ever! Last year we had 2 amazing meals that are on my top 10 list of all time. And this year, the experience was less than ideal. This year, the restaurant offered 5 or 8 course meals. We chose the 5. It took 30 minutes before we even got our drinks. Then I had to ask for bread bc it took another 30 minutes before the first course came. In all, it took 3 hours and 15 minutes for our meal! We had to order coffee just to stay awake. It took a ridiculously long time to get the food, and when it came, it was good but not memorable like the years past. The one exception was the porcini pana cotta. It was beautiful & delicious. For the money we spent, the service was horrible compared to previous years. We watched parties arrive after us and finish before us. The table next to us had to ask the sommelier not to pour wine into their used glasses. I do not recommend The Immigrant Room like I used to. And for the record, because I love Kohler so much, I reached out to the front desk about the experience and they never responded, so I...
