I went here to get a evening dress to wear to an opera with my husband. The ladies here were very nice and seemed very helpful but my experience ended up horrible! When I tried on dress initially I did not like how low it was. The lady said we could pull it up and tighten straps. I was happy with how it looked pinned and I paid $60 to have the straps adjusted and dress hemmed, which I found to be overpriced but went with convenience. They also recommended I put in layaway which was an $15 which I feel is a bit high too especially considering you are required to purchase the dress once it's in there. My event was on April 1st and I went back to pick up the dress on March 29th. I tried it on at the shop and was very unsatisfied. The dress had built in cups that were now at my collarbone once she tightened the straps. I came out and told her wasnt happy and didnt know what to do. She said she could loosen the straps and acted like I should have known it would raise the cups like that. I am NOT the seamstress so why would I know this? I stressed my concern that if she loosened the straps again then it would be too low, which was the original problem. She offered to use some of her sample lace that went to my dress and fill in the dress a little to cover cleavage. I agreed and told her I would pick it back up the next day. I then paid for the rest of the dress. Total paid was $271.78. I picked up the finished dress on March 30th on my way to work and did not have time to try it on. I assumed it was right this time. I did not have a chance to try it on til the next morning when I got off work. It was a disaster!! One of the straps was so loose it was falling off my shoulder. It was also sewn crooked compared to the other side. The lace she used to fill it in was coming apart and you could see the stitching she used because it was almost black thread. The biggest problem was the chest was huge! When she loosened the straps, it made the cups bigger. Just like when you loosen bra straps it makes cups bigger. You could see right down my dress. I called them and left vm and they called me as soon as they opened. Said come in around 1230 and they could tighten the straps. This would only take us back to the original alteration that I was unhappy with. Given no other options to satisfy, I then told her I just wouldn't be able to wear it and would see if my daughter could use it for prom or something. Still offered nothing but for me to bring it in sometime and she could fix it for me but not by April 1st. After having a meltdown all day and night I decided to try to alter the dress somehow myself. Just as I was leaving to head to Walmart for some fabric I noticed my curtains in my living room were the exact color as my dress. So I was able to handstitch a piece of the curtain to my dress to make the dress appear like it fit in the chest. Plus fixed her poor job of the lace filler. And tightened the strap back up. I did end up wearing the dress after my alterations. Had I not done that it would have just been a total waste of money. I still feel like they ripped me off and owe me at least the $60 I spent on...
Read moreThe place looks really neat but that is where the "good experience" ended for me and my girls. I recently got married and had 4 bridesmaids. This was the closest place for everyone, but I wish we would have gone somewhere else. We did not get a lot of "hands on" experience except for asking for clips multiple times and for measurements. Ultimately my girls purchased dresses from here and the whole experience was terrible. When checking out, the worker kept telling my girls different totals because she would say, "Oh, I forgot tax." or "Oh, I didn't include shipping which is $30." after a girl of mine had already paid. When one of the girls asked if all the dresses could be put on one order for a one-time shipping fee, she said she could, but it would be more work for her. You're making hundreds of dollars from this visit, "more work for you" should not be too much to ask and that isn't something you should tell customers. When measuring one of the girls, she tried to push a 2 sizes too big dress on her. The sample dress she tried on fit like a glove on her and the girl even said so but pushed her to size up 2 sizes. When that girl took her dress to an alterations lady, she told her that dress was way too big, and she was the size of the original dress. For another girl, her measurements were TOTALLY wrong. When she went to pick up her dress, she could not even breath. They told her they would take out the dress, free of charge, since it was their mistake. When she called back around 3 weeks later because she was getting worried, the girl on the phone did not even know what she was talking about and said her dress had been sitting there for weeks untouched. They tried to say they would alter it again to fix the mistake but at that point we were not taking any chances and I had to pick up the dress myself. When she tried to get her dress altered, the seamstress had to make it a Corsette back because the back of the dress was messed up so bad. Her dress broke during the wedding reception. She has tried to call management to get something done about it, but they won't pick up the phone. To top it off, one of the girls said this place had told her they didn't have a seamstress, so I am not sure how they were going to fix the other girl's dress. I wish I was making all this up but unfortunately, I am not. The experience for me and my girls was horrific, and we won't get that back. I am soooo glad I did not get my wedding dress from here after all this. And if anyone asks me where to go for dresses, it will not be for here. I am very understanding with mistakes, but this was too much on top of another. I hope...
Read moreWas pleasantly surprised and amazed with my experience at Blye's bridal. I am a goth at heart, and hate wearing white (and most formal wear in general) as I'm very pale with pink undertones, so white never really complemented me. I went here with my mom and aunt, not really expecting to find anything I liked but rather just going for the experience. I thought for sure I'd just be wasting this poor girl's time.
However, throughout the process of trying on dresses, Bethany was taking mental notes and asking questions to help me find my "type". Eventually I tried on a black dress which I felt really suited my tastes, and I felt really beautiful in it. Bethany, seeing this, then went to a different room and grabbed a dress that I had not seen yet and told me to try it on. I did, and I was stunned. It was MY dress, and I said yes.
Bethany was fantastic and really made the experience personal. I CANNOT reccommend her enough. I received a thank you card in the mail that included a quote by Edgar Allen Poe (because of course I love Poe) and that really just told me that she really strives to get to know each individual bride on a personal level, and she's skilled at knowing what you want before you even know yourself. I cant say thank you enough, Bethany! You really made this...
