Jamie’s Soda Fountain – Poor Service, Inappropriate Comments, Rude Manager

On Friday, June 4th, we visited Jamie’s Soda Fountain, downtown Kokomo, Indiana. We ordered 2 milkshakes and 3 sodas, and an ice water. Before being served, there were at least 11 other customers who came in after us that were served or taken care of before us. We complained just to the person waiting on us and asked for our drink order to be completed since all these people came in after us. We then got served. As we were leaving, the manager/person waiting on us then shouted out behind us “and don’t come back”, so that all the customers in the restaurant could here. We left; however one of us went back in to talk to this person and overheard her talking to her other personnel loudly, to not serve us if we were to return. I then let her know that I was standing behind her and asked if I could speak to the manager. She then said “I am the manager!” We were then told that the only reason given for taking other customers before us was that milkshakes take longer. We felt the manager was rude and made loud inappropriate comments that put us on the defense; and felt that she had no real reason for the extremely poor service and humiliation to us as customers that just came in excited to have one of the fountain drinks Jaimie’s...

I don't really like leaving bad reviews, but also want to be honest. I'm not sure why this place gets so many high marks because it isn't that great...at least, not for me. Upon first walking in I noticed that none of the employees were wearing masks (March 2021) and realized how dirty the restaurant was after I took my seat - and I don't mean just in need of sweeping, but sort of grimey on the chairs and walls. The food was something I could've done a better job of cooking at home (burger and fries) and even the 'old fashioned fountain soda' tasted like a regular ol' soda. Also disappointing was the fact that everything arrived on or in styrofoam containers, even though I was dining in. I've really been trying to support local businesses lately, but don't plan on going back...

Terrible service, waited 10 minutes to be waited only to have to approach one of the staff to take my order. Next I waited 40 minutes for a sandwich that never came. I was in a time crunch and didn't expect the service to be this slow and this rude. Anytime I asked for an update on my food I was either ignored or told that it was still being made. I was told this place was perfect for a quick bite but it ended up being nothing more than a giant waste of time. This is the first and the last time I will go here.
