This is, without a doubt, my favorite record store I've been to. Being a Kutztown University student, I immediately made my way to Young Ones the first week of freshman year. I made a beeline to the metal section, and was not disappointed. All of the big names you'd expect were there, plus some much smaller ones, but the real kicker was finding local artists I've played with there. This is a tried and true indie store, and supporting the local bands is always a good thing in my book. Not only this, but the rock, pop, and even hip hop sections were nothing short of perfect. If that's somehow not enough, CD's, Video Games, DVD's, and even musical equipment is always in full stock. This place has just about everything a music nerd needs. The best part is easily the prices. I picked up a copy of Periphery II, one of my favorite albums, for 23 dollars. I took it back to my dorm to find out it was a limited edition print, going for MORE online. A local business selling lower than internet prices is unheard of. I simply cannot say enough great things about Young Ones, and if you're even remotely in the area, I HIGHLY recommend checking it out. Just bring a couple bucks. You're gonna walk...
Read moreI'm giving it five starts because the things I didn't like about it have more to do ith my personal preference in music and aren't at related to the service.
If I were to tell a friend it would probably be a four start just because it's mostly mainstream items they carry and may not have what they're looking for. I was hoping to find more than I did and j was a little bummed.
I also wish there were header cards for what letter of the alphabet you're going into to make finding the right section go a little faster
They did have a section for metal but it was mostly bigger bands, the punk was also mixed in with the indie section.
However, the selection of soundtracks was really good and there was a huge variety including a lot of studio ghibli
Movie wise there is a lot. They have a very nice horror section with some harder to find titles.
Proce wise they're pretty on par with shops in Philly Ias for parking i did almost make the mistake of going in the public pay to park lot but they have a small amount of free spaces behind the store. I included a photo so you know you're jn the...
Read moreGiving it one star because the girl at the counter was extremely rude. A friend asked me to stop by and look for a specific record I hadn't heard of before, and without even looking at the album cover on my phone or asking what the record was, the girl at the counter told me, "We don't have that." I gave her the name of the album (because she didn't even bother to check before telling me they didn't have it), and she said "Yeah we had a line of people out the door when that was released and it sold out," with an attitude of thinking I was really stupid for not knowing that. I came to this store to do a friend a favor and left just wanting to cry instead. They seem to have a lot of merchandise, but I wouldn't recommend coming here if you need help from the staff because they're...
