I came to this salon for over a year, always to Dasha, since they opened. I always made an appointment 8-10 weeks in advance, always showed up a bit early, and always tip. First, I love the vibe of this studio. I love that it’s girly without being overwhelming, they offer you a drink when you first arrive, and they’re usually always running a special on services or products. And my haircut always looked amazing and made me feel fantastic.
However, a few things made me stop coming. I noticed over the past few appointments that the base charge for a haircut has steadily crept up, from 65 to 83. I know this is usually because of the training the associates undergo and increases as they gain experience, however Dasha is a top stylist and one of the owners so this increase never really made sense to me. It was also not communicated to me until I went to pay at the end of my appointment and the price would ring up higher unexpectedly. I am a basic cut and blow dry girl, not much too fancy to my haircut except a few long layers. I also had an unprofessional scheduling experience that made me feel as if my business was not worth their time. I had an appointment at 1:15pm. I confirmed my appointment via text message the day before. I was on my way to the studio, and received a call just past 1pm from the front desk girl stating that Dasha was behind and needed to reschedule me. I assumed for later that day and offered to delay my arrival a bit and come later that afternoon. After checking with the stylist, front desk told me that was not the case and she could see me next week. At my hesitation she offered a 2pm appointment the next day, since Dasha was too busy doing coloring to see me at my scheduled appointment. I asked for another stylist at this point, since I was just around the corner from the studio and had rearranged my day for this appointment. No other stylist was available - that’s fair. This told me that Dasha had overbooked her schedule, or scheduled a color - which makes her more money- over my cut. This feels unprofessional and disrespectful of my time. They seemed unapologetic and very matter of fact that they were cancelling my appointment because of their scheduling conflicts, 10 minutes in advance of my scheduled appointment that day. There was no follow up to this and I elected not to reschedule here, and canceled the hair relax treatment I had on their schedule for next month. I have since scheduled at...
Read moreI schedule an appointment for a hair color and a hair cut based on the reviews I saw here, I was hoping I was going to have a good experience. But unfortunately my experience was the opposite. They brought me back 20 minutes passed my appointment, without notifying me that she was running behind, I would have understand if there was more communication. I felt like my hairstylist was unattentive. My biggest issue was when she placed my hair color and had me wait more than 20 min. When she had said it was going to be only 20 min. Not only did she not checked on me to see how everything going. But when I inform her my scalp was itchy and burning, she said it will be a few more seconds since she had another client and needed to take a few pictures of them. I had to be more firm and request to get my hair wash as soon as possible since I kept telling her my scalp was burning in my right side. At this point it was almost two hours into the appointment. I was already stressed and frustrated, and just wanted to leave. Even though I felt pressured on staying because she kept insisting to dry my hair and for me to see the color. This has been the most uncomfortable experience I have ever had at a salon. I would suggest more communication between clients and be more attentive. And to...
Read moreMy one-star review has nothing to do with the stylist. She was great. I had scheduled to see her again until I saw the receipt emailed to me and the extra fees tacked on for "Emp. Insur. and Maintenance Fee, $2.50" and "Tip Convenience Fee, $1.22." These are nominal amounts, true, but I was told what the procedures would cost and that there would be no extra fee for using a charge card. I called back to ask and was told that the fee goes to the stylist to help pay for insurance. I explained that is not the clients' responsibility but should be up to the employer of the stylist unless they are working as a sub-contractor. And she couldn't tell me what a "Tip Convenience Fee" was. She gave me the email address of the person in charge of "customer service" that would give me an answer. I emailed her and haven't heard a word. So much for their customer service. Needless to say, I've canceled the next appointment I had set up in two weeks for highlights. I won't be paying for anyone's insurance or any other hidden fees. If a business wants to charge fees like that, then incorporate them into your prices. In addition, they do not give a discount if you are doing more than one procedure at one visit as many salons do. A business should know that bad reviews spread a lot faster than...
