Defines AVERAGE
I seriously cannot comprehend the reviews on this place. Maybe the owner is well liked or maybe people in Kyle just enjoy and or are used to positively average food. My family and I decided to tried this place the other night on a whim and because of the good reviews. Everything about it defined 'average' from the boring venue to the food and yet the pricing was premium burger joint pricing! That's really the biggest issue for me and I immediately identified a number of areas where they could save money and deliver a better product because of it.
The menu is super basic - there aren't even expanded burger offerings unless you consider bacon and cheese adventurous. I didn't even see a hotdog on there which I thought odd since the offerings and overall appearance is little more than overpriced amusement fair food and served as such - in paper and baskets, wasteful foam cups etc. Nothing unique about even the burgers. Just an average boring burger, good, but boring. I certainly can make the same or better at home and most people should be able to as well. I mean literally, we might as well have purchased frozen prepared meals at HEB and called it night...they would have been more exciting and cost way less. Most of the food is straight up purchased frozen food, from the crummy wavy fries to the dang 5 piece Tyson dino composite chicken nuggets kids meal they want $5 for that you buy a big bag of at HEB for around $3-5. Speaking of the fries, they didn't even get those right and they were burned with most of them being inedible.
Local or not, we won't be returning to this. I can think of several places $43 for a family of 4 would have been far...

Check out the âmost recent menuâ according to the manager on duty last night. Look at the menu price and then look at my receipt. Every single item is priced higher on my receipt then their âmenuâ claims the price is. 50 cents here, 29 cents thereâno consistency. Just price gouging like no one is going to catch on. All of these prices were entered in before she even knew how I was paying- so you canât tell me itâs a credit card fee. Such a huge disappointment- shop local my behind. Theyâre robbing their community!!!
Been a long time regular until tonight. Called to place my order and the lady on the phone told me I couldnât get what I wanted. A chicken fried steak with double potatoes. She told me they canât give me double mashed potatoes because it overwhelms them. So fine I order it as it comes. Go to pick up my food and the bill for 4 people came to $81. The menu on their Facebook page is not accurate. The prices are wrong and the listing for what their plates come with is wrong. I called back telling them I did not receive my side salad for my steak dinner and she told me they donât do that either. Carolina was not pleasant and frankly pretty rude for being the one in charge. She made zero apology and had no empathy for the customer. If youâre going to run a business- at least have all you menus and socials updated instead of having false information. Wonât be returning. They were great years ago when they cared about their customers- but they definitely went downhill in the last year. Iâll eat at other...
Read moreI decided to give this small business a try after hearing about them in the news opening up a second location in my town last week.
Right now there are two locations in Kyle, one on each side of the highway. I visited the original standalone location.
I would compare their food with Dan's Hamburgers, who until now, makes what I think to be the best hamburger. Big Robs takes that title now.
The ambiance of their dining area is really nice and well lit. There are plenty of tables for seating. If you prefer a booth, that is available. They also serve beer and margaritas from what I can tell and there are TVs set up in a sports bar style environment.
My food only took about 5 minutes from the time I ordered it until the time I got to my table. That being said it wasn't super busy when I went in on a Sunday.
A little on price: Don't expect fast food prices at Big Robs. The burgers are made with all real beef and the quality of the ingredients is on the high side, so the cost that the patron will incur for the food is going to be higher than at Dan's hamburgers or a similar establishment. Also, even though the food came out fast, I would not call this a fast food joint. There is no drive-thru. If I were to label it, I would say it would be more similar to a Denny's or typical restaurant setup.
I met one of the owners. Very sweet lady and seems to genuinely care what her customers think about the experience.
I will definitely be back as soon as I come back into town. Thank...
