Beautiful weekend in Room 2, Jean De La Fontaine! As introverts by nature, we wanted to enjoy Lacrosse with minimal driving, while also having somewhere quiet and beautiful to rest. We booked at the Hatchery on a whim, and it fully exceeded our expectations. Perfect for a romantic weekend away, an upscale event, or a trip with friends. Highly recommend! Setting: This would be a fantastic place for an event! The location at the end of Riverside Park means every window has a different river view. We had a lovely river walk to multiple food and drink locations 0.4-0.7 miles away, without needing to worry about street parking. The lounge downstairs had live music one night we stayed, and we enjoyed 2 free complimentary cocktail vouchers with the room. The lounge is worth a visit even if you don’t stay here— excellent live music, friendly mixologists, beautiful views, and even a solid selection of mocktails, THC options and NA beverages. Ample, non-obtrusive parking. The gardens and river paths next door were well maintained and expansive. The best of walkability along with the tranquility of nature. Building: Historic building with gleaming original wood floors, huge bright windows, and caring restoration that maintains its whimsical charm. Immaculately clean (no musty old building smells!!). One wide flight of stairs with railings to get to hotel rooms. There is just one intimate floor of rooms over the top of the event space and lounge. It looks like they plan to open a patio space next door this summer. Sleep experience: The Hatchery was definitely a bit lively while the lounge was open, but the hotel became very quiet once the lounge and park closed for the night (around 10pm) without any street noise. No rooms above or below meant almost no sound from neighboring guests. Great temperature control with radiant heat and a powerful mini split. Bed was supportive yet soft. Blackout drapes kept the room very dark, and we slept exceptionally well. Amenities: Is remote check-in and no front desk an amenity? It was for us! Marty and Tiff were immediately responsive via call or text, but never intrusive. Daily housekeeping available. Door codes meant no key card to keep track of! Daily breakfast snack area included muffins, noosa yogurt, and cheese sticks. All day snacks included popcorn, chip mix, coffee, tea and sodas, along with some half and half and oat milk. They provided toothbrushes, toothpaste, earplugs, and Aveda bath products. Hair dryer with diffuser in room. The cute record player, steam shower, and heated bathroom floors really made this feel like a boutique luxury stay. Included chocolates, little bud bouquet, and lounge cocktail vouchers were such a fun touch. Things to consider: If booking with a 3rd party platform, call the hotel directly to verify your stay and contact information. All checkin/checkout details are via text and email, which our 3rd party booking platform did not pass along to The Hatchery. The building and park are active until about 10pm on the weekends, especially if there are events. It’s very quiet after 10pm and in the morning. Earplugs are provided if needed.

Just WOW! On our road trip to Chicago we made a stop in Lacrosse to stay at the Hatchery. Judging by the pictures online we decided to stay for the night. I am so happy we did! Even before we got there we were communicated with so well! Literally being texted like it was our friend that we were meeting to stay at their house for a night. We got lucky enough to run into Tiff and Marty on the parking lot and they were so kind and down to earth! Then we walk through the coded door and are greeting by a clean smell that makes you smile. At the top of the stairs that lead to the rooms is a comfy couch and snacks and amenities in case you forgot anything. Upon entering our room I was blown away by the design and quality of everything !!! Beds super comfy! Netflix! Steam shower! View of the river and park! They were even so generous as to give us a complimentary cocktail at their stunning bar downstairs ! After our drinks we walked around the garden and every few steps was the perfect picture spot! I was so impressed with this place from start to finish, that we already started to plan something for Christmas in Lacrosse. I just know they will deck the halls. Thank you for a wonderful memory! We can’t wait to return!

My Mom is from LaCrosse and was really missing her childhood friend, so I took her for a quick trip. I googled and found The Hatchery, and couldn't be more pleased. This will be our home in LaCrosse whenever we go. The rooms are fantastic, the beds are ultra-comfortable, they use Aveda products in the bathroom (all I use), they have record players with good vinyl in the room, Netflix, a steam shower, little snacks in the common area, nice things for breakfast, earplugs if needed, etc. Riverside Park is setting up for the Rotary Lights Christmas extravaganza and The Hatchery is right in the thick of it. What a perfect location. Close to the downtown restaurants and bars, you could easily walk to your night out. The ladies who were running the private event downstairs were super friendly and helpful. We love The Hatchery! *One thing to note is that the rooms are all up a flight of stairs, with no elevator. I didn't see that mentioned on the website, and my Mom is disabled ... but luckily, she's a trooper and we took our time and got her upstairs - three times. She says it was worth it.

The Hatchery is one of the most welcoming and thoughtfully run places I’ve ever stayed. From the very first phone call, I was impressed by the genuine care and kindness of the owners (Marty and Tiff). I called to ask about the differences between rooms, and Marty not only answered all of my questions, but also recommended a specific room with a view of the Mississippi River. He even mentioned that eagles had been hunting nearby — and sure enough, we spent time during our stay watching them from our window. It was magical.

Even before I booked, the owner offered to share local recommendations, which was a lovely and unexpected gesture. After booking, the hospitality only continued. The owners were proactive in reaching out, always happy to answer questions or offer suggestions, and their restaurant recommendations were spot-on — including some incredible off-menu items we wouldn’t have discovered otherwise. It’s obvious they know and love their community, and they go far beyond just offering a nice room and want every guest to have the best stay possible.

The room itself was wonderful. Clean, cozy, and stocked with high-quality shampoo, conditioner, and soap. There were even a variety of snacks set out by the stairs, another thoughtful detail that made us feel right at home.

The location is equally perfect: nestled beside a garden and a quiet park, yet just a short walk from downtown La Crosse. It feels like the best of both worlds — peaceful and scenic, but close to everything.

I can’t recommend it highly enough, and I’m already looking forward...

We had a very nice stay (and can finally write about it as it’s been added to TA). ||We had a lovely stay in the Eugene room.||We especially loved the: luxurious sheets and towels; room design (crisp, clean and great colors), bathroom - wow!; love the tile in the shower; comfortable mattress; complimentary drinks in the lounge - watching the sunset over the Mississippi - spectacular!; yogurt, soda, cheese, snacks, coffee, etc...nice touch!; loved the aveda products; easy parking, entry with the key pad and walking everywhere.||Just a few tweaks that might make it even better: shower needed checking as it sprays out a little bit (needs a better seal?); regular flavored coffee in the morning - a breakfast blend or something similar (maybe even hot chocolate and more tea for an evening choice :-)); there is only one chair to sit on - add another chair and a small table between the two chairs (it's always weird sitting in bed eating and drinking coffee and my husband didn't really have anywhere to set his coffee/yogurt while sitting in the one chair); add |a small stool/bench in the bathroom that could slide under the vanity - wasn't sure where to put my clothes - on the wide window sill? on the floor?||I emailed the property after our stay with our small suggestions and never heard a peep. I’m all for self-check-in, etc…but I also like to think that there is a human on the other side of all of this that will respond.||The renovation is stunning and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We will 100% consider staying again if we find ourselves...
