A Flavorful Force Awakens Stopped in for a quick bite and found a feast worthy of a Jedi Council meeting. I ordered the vegetarian fajitas, and what landed at my table could’ve fed a whole squadron of rebel fighters. 🌯🔥 Grilled peppers, onions, mushrooms, and tomatoes—all seasoned with the wisdom of a thousand spice systems. Served sizzling, of course. The kind of dish that makes you pause, breathe, and say, “The flavor is strong with this one.” 💰 Prices? Incredibly Padawan-friendly. Most menu items were priced between $8–$15 credits (USD for you Earthlings). There's a huge menu, complete with vegetarian and youngling-approved options. 🌮 Complimentary chips and salsa made for a solid warm-up round—crunchy, golden, and gone faster than a podrace. 🧑‍🍳 Service? Kind and attentive, like a well-trained Jedi Knight—there when you need them, but never interrupting your connection with the Force (or your food). ✨ Pro tip: Come hungry and ready for leftovers. You won’t leave this cantina empty-handed—or empty-stomached.

I know my review may counter that of others who ate here before, here is the real deal, I know Mexican food like the palm of my hand. I ordered the mole, and asked the person if it was good, they said they were not sure, that should have been my queue, needless to say, disappointing, taste like it was made from a can as it was soupy (consistency should be ticker ) flavorless and the service was also lacking, the server did not returned to offer water or sweet tea refill, and his service was mediocre, the place looks old and needing an overhaul, however people flock to it as it is one of the few restaurants in the area. To be fair, my friends food was better, he got the shrimp on the image. I also realize that the locals have given great reviews, and that is fine and well intended, however to get a place to improve we cannot operate only on grace without pointing the need for improvement.

La Tolteca is one of several Mexican restaurants in the Southern Maryland area, so my review is based on what’s available locally. Their prices are unmatched—by far the most affordable we’ve seen. Compared to Mexico Restaurant in White Plains, just up the road, we typically spend about half as much and receive larger portions at La Tolteca. The service is consistently good, the food arrives quickly, and we’ve never had to wait more than five minutes for a table. There’s also a bar located at the back, along with plenty of seating throughout the restaurant. All in all, when it comes to value and portion size, La Tolteca stands out as the best Mexican dining option in Southern Maryland.

I've visited a handful of times to really get a feel. First time I went, I got Molé Poblano. Normally this style isn't very booming with flavor but it was made bland. Disappointing. Next time I went, I got tacos. Nothing memorable unfortunately. Aside from this, our waiter seemed to care for his tables with no pride or willingness to ensure customers walked away satisfied. The last time I went which will be the last time I ever come here, something unimaginable happened. We walked in and were greeted by the lovely woman at the host desk. She's a such a doll, I love her. We get seated and my partner and I began to play the waiting game. 10 minutes passed until anyone asked us for a drink order. Probably another 10 until they arrived. At this point I was furious. When our waiter came to get our order, he glared at us and every word he uttered came with such hesitation. After I gave him my order he then asks me, "So what does HE want?" This guy had no manners and to top it off a disgusting attitude. I decided to give the Mole one last shot. I took a bite, and it felt like I had all the tears from hell in my mouth. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw our waiter with another gentleman snickering from a distance watching us eat. As a Mexican restaurant, you are a joke. Luckily you're the only one in La Plata, otherwise you would have closed your...

The staff and what we assume was the manager, were beyond rude. We came here for a family dinner, half of us driving out from DC. They said they closed at 10 per Google. When we arrived, we noted the sign on the door that the kitchen closes at 9:45, which is totally fine. We went in to get a table at 9:25. They were aggressively rude about ordering, yelling at our table from afar (we need your order, we are closing, etc.). Our parents were coming in behind us and they kept yelling saying we need their order. At this point it was 9:34. They kept saying they are closed and the kitchen is closed/closing. We kindly asked if they wanted us to leave. They said no but continued to be extremely rude. We ordered and received cold food, no refills on things we asked for, never saw our waiter again. Then, they turned the lights off as we were eating. We were still eating and the manager yelled, you need to go, we are closed and it is after 10. Totally understand if you want to close early, but just say so and do...
