In truth, this lovely quilt shop typically would get 5 stars from me, but they are still recovering (I believe) from the challenges of broken supply chains during Covid. For example, their selection of batiks before Covid was extraordinary, but now it is somewhat less. On the other hand, they have a very fine array of mostly contemporary fabric designs and all of high-quality cotton. I tis impressive for a family-run store. I can always find something to buy and often too much to buy (if you get my drift). The owners and staff are very helpful and friendly, and some are more helpful and friendly than others. That said, I have never been given bad advice when I have asked a question. Indeed, I have often gotten excellent suggestions when I indicated what kind of thing I was looking for: nothing like having someone who really knows the stock pull out 4 or 5 very good possibilities in much less time than it would take for me to find them. Because they are more-or-less my local quilt store I always shop there first but, if I need something they do not have I sometimes have to go elsewhere. Still, there is a friendly and warm vibe along with a fine selection of fabrics, patterns, thread and whatnot, and that's...
Read moreMaterial Girls is the best quilting store I could possibly imagine. The staff is friendly, knowledgable, and helpful. Many of the staff know customers by name, and they know our preferences in fabrics, techniques, and patterns. Their selection of fabrics is just about perfect--high quality, reasonably priced, and beautifully displayed. They have an excellent selection of notions and other items needed in quilting. The repair team does excellent work, and wait times are usually quite reasonable. The store is always clean and neat. Material Girls never shut down during the pandemic; they made curbside deliveries, and found other ways to serve their many loyal customers. The retreats they sponsor are perfectly organized. I don't know anyone who doesn't love...
Read moreI recently pick up a quilt in progress that I’d started early last year. I had a partial plan for the quilt and I’d purchased a couple of fabric I thought might work. After I got further into the design which by the way came from my head not a pattern I learned that I did not have enough of the black fabric. Unfortunately the piece I had did not have a name on it. After doing extensive searches on the internet I found a match on the Material Girls quilt site. I ordered 2 yards to be on the safe side and my order quickly filled and shipped the next day. Thank you so much for have great photos and affective key word searches so I could find the fabric. Your shop is the best and I’ll be back for that much needed fabric. Thank you for the little note...
