United States Postal Service — Local services in La Vernia

Called about my package marked delivered this past Saturday. Spoke to lady who answered the phone only to put me on hold. When she finally came back I gave her my tracking #. She never identified herself but she took great offense to me calling her “lady”. She wanted to be called by her name she said was Lisa Denise Ontiveros. She went on to tell me that my package was delivered. I proceeded to tell her that if my package was placed in my mailbox but could not provide any proof of said action. Told me I would have to drive to La Vernia post office for that but even at that she kept saying she was unable to provide proof 🤬. She was very adamant that maybe another person in my household or even a stranger might have stolen it. Yeah right like the postal workers are infallible. I had to ask for name of the supervisor 2 times before she stopped taking my complaint so personally because I told her she was useless never displaying any empathy or compassion immediately becoming so defensive. She asked for my phone number so she could have Gilbert Mendez return my call. She then realized that she already had my phone number then why ask for it OMG what a “idiot”. I myself work in customer service and 1st lesson is never take the customer opinion personal. Of course the consumer is going to be upset because you are not helping diffuse the situation you are only repeating same response over and over.

I have never had any problems with Post Office before so I wonder if Ms Ontiveros is new or just unable to handle similar situations. You don’t demand respect “lady”...

Most workers are friendly and helpful. I would say that one worker, although helpful, can seem quite meh about you. Just FYI for u, you'll get friendly and polite from everyone else. And yes, expect to wait in a line for a few minutes during peak times just like any other business. Oftentimes, they only have one person working the front, which could be what the complaints are about. And passports, come back later if u don't want to wait the 15 minutes or so. Lastly, our mail has been opened several times with gift card missing once. and have also had lost mail more so than any other places weve lived. Not blaming anyone mail thieves...

I am really tired of trying to get things out of my post office box. My regular postman is fine, but on his days off, his replacement does a very bad job. If you have a package, he/she stuffs it in your regular mailbox and then you can't get it out. This is happening more and more. I have complained to the Post Master and keep getting told they have talked to the replacement delivery people and explained that if you have a hard time getting a package in, then the customer can't get it out. This has now happened 2 days in a row and getting very frustrating. Please hire people with some common sense instead of these...
