If I could leave less than a one-star review I would do so. I've been going to the store for many years when I go up to Grand Oaks for equestrian events. I absolutely love this store and usually budget quite a bit of money just to stop by there because I love their things and I love to shop there. On this particular visit I found that things were incredibly overpriced and even found a frame that is sold for $4 at Walmart (the price was printed on the picture inside the frame) and Good Will had it priced for $6.99. they had a cheap curtain rod priced at $20. They had used stuffed animals priced higher than new prices. Most of their things, other than clothes, you could find at Walmart for much cheaper or even the dollar store. If I were you I would just stick to going to garage sales. Another woman and I were commenting about it and brought it to the attention of the staff. She got the store manager to come and speak with us and she was incredibly dismissive, rude, and told us that since she became the manager their sales have increased immensely. Maybe the dollar amount of their sales have gone up but I doubt that the quantity of their sales has gone up. And the quality of items is just the same. It's really sad that a thrift store who's supposed to be raising money for people in need is gouging people with prices so high that they can't afford them. She said that we could shop for the orange tags because they were 50% off. I told her I hadn't seen an orange tag the entire time I was in that store. She had another excuse. She said that after the colors are changed weekly they have a 50% off senior day and then the next day all of the resellers come in and take everything else. I showed her the Walmart frame and she did nothing to fix the issue. I also showed her two identical photos that are from the same set that were priced differently after she told me that they have a scale that they have to follow for corporate. I told her her scale is off if two items that are exactly the same are priced so differently. She had nothing to say and when I asked her what the correct price was she refused to fix either one. She just kept saying sorry. Sorry, sorry. So in addition to the bad prices and gouging they have terrible customer service. What happened to the customer is always right? What happened to making your customers happy? You can suffice it to say that I will not be back to that store. And I will be telling all my friends to avoid that...
ย ย ย Read more2 star because at the end of the day, the employees here are still keeping the store presentable and open. So they deserve a credit and not to be punished for a higher up decision... unless they were somehow involved in the store changes. Then this would be a message for everyone involved. This goodwill no longer has anywhere to test an electronic or try on a shirt (as in no fitting rooms). They do, however, offer you a spectacular "3-day return" policy. Within this policy, they will not return your funds to the card or cash you paid with, they issue it to you on a gift card for their store. I do not feel like that is a correct way to handle business and honestly the lack of consideration to the customer from a store who's product is literally used goods and clothes. Also, the fact the complete terms were not mentioned when asked specifically about how the new return policy worked was not a nice touch either. But I'll count that one on me for not specifically asking the step by step. There should be the staple resources to test and try on as needed. This is basic and has been a staple since I've been going to goodwill since childhood. Why did you feel the need to change/remove this feature? Another point I'd like to add, there have been a couple times I have found items in this goodwill, that are priced higher than if you were to go to the original store and purchase it new. And before anyone comes after me and says 'well, just go to the original store and buy it cheaper there..' I applaud you on you ability to understand the circumstance, but my reason behind mentioning it to begin with is to point out that this it a Goodwill store. A place for donated goods to be sold off at a discounted or even slightly reduced cost as opposed to going to main chain stores and purchasing new for full price. There is no logical reasoning other than a few speculative points, such as greed or disregard (which are illogical in this case) that a used item would be priced more than what the item sells at new. The kicker is. Some of the items I have personally explored on even had the price tag or sticker from the original store still on it, clearly marking the inconsistencies. If someone can make it make sense, please do so. Otherwise, the silence leaves a big gap of negative speculation...
ย ย ย Read moreI have been a customer there since it opened. I have donated hundreds of dollars of items which you proudly sell for profit. I have also shopped there many, many times...so I would say I have been one of your biggest supporters giving and buying. However, we will not donate to Good Will EVER again due to the greed that I have heard of and now witnessed first hand! In the past I have been allowed to return an item not for cash back but an even exchange. Yesterday late afternoon I stopped in and found a dress and a golf skirt I liked. I had limited time and the dressing rooms were all backed up with people waiting with full carts. I had to go so I went to check out. There were two girls at check out and I asked (even though I had done it before) if I could return if they didn't fit. One of the girls that checked me out said yes as long as the tag was still on it and I had the receipt....just like before. My luck, the golf skirt did not fit so today I ran back to get an exchange...I was told No by the manager that it was NOT their policy!!! NO EXCHANGES. What???? Long story short she was very smug over a $6.99 item. So, I placed it on the counter telling her to keep it...maybe she (or Good Will) needs it more than I do. The store would not have lost any money by having an even exchange would they? But I was out the $6.99....so they win and get to resell it for more greedy profit. It is NOT the $6.99 to me that matters, it is absolutely how they treat people who help THEM by donating items that they then sell and believe me it does not all go to help others. (Check online stories) After the many, many items I have donated and purchased....this was a true SLAP in the face! Shop around if you like thrift shopping or donating...there are many other places that truly do care about everyone! I will be telling all my thrift shopping friends who go there....Oh and as far as your lame "policy" and the golf skirt I returned, well... you know what you...
