I unfortunately had a horrible experience at this Longhorn in Lady Lake, Fl.
Mediocrity across the board.
I arrived and ordered a half and half tea. I ordered my outlaw steak medium temperature. I usually order this steak medium at all longhorn locations.
My side of brussel sprouts that I ordered with my steak & potato was delivered before the rest of my meal. I did not request this. I eventually received my steak and my potato was old. You can tell when an older baked potato is being served. In addition to the old potato, my steak was metallic and unpleasant tasting. I ordered a medium steak but it was temped by the manager at 105 degrees. I requested a manager to temp the steak in front of me. I assume this is why the couple at the bar eventually made comments about my behavior. I was not happy in the slightest at this point. My food arrived at different times for no good reason. It arrived and was poorly cooked and plated. It was 35 degrees away from the medium temperature I requested. The crust was warm which didn't make sense to me. Aren't crusts baked or broiled to brown the top? Overall it was poorly executed and my experience was poor. I did not want another steak after the poor tasting steak I was served. I've had undercooked steaks but there was so much more going on here.
The manager offered to fix it and I declined. I felt like they failed. I said you could give me a giftcard instead but I thought that was unfair to mention. I didn't want a free meal. A re-do. I wanted an outlaw ribeye with a parm crust cooked medium with a side of brussel sprouts added. I could always tell corporate my experience was awful and move on. If they give me a giftcard then great but if I havent spent money so far then why should longhorn provide monitary compensation? I asked for his business card and I left $10 on the bar. I asked if i had a tab and he said no.
I returned and asked for a receipt of dinner. I wanted the generated ticket/bill/check/receipt.... so that I could reach out to corporate about the bad experience. The couple at the bar with the manager and bartender were discussing my rude behavior as I returned. I mouthed off enough to let the gentleman know he should mind his own business. He was more insulted than I realized and expressed his anger with me and how I ruined his dinner experience. I was just returning to request more information about my BAD EXPERIENCE when this gentleman actually jumped off his barstool to get in my face as I was walking out. I usually have better experiences in Tampa but I'm not sure I'm giving Darden any of...
Read moreFive stars because I've been here before, always like the food, and love the female servers. There's a young blonde miss who I wanted to give my server's tip to, because I've had her in the past and watched her tonight and she is very diligent at her work. But the server I had tonight? He was simply dreadful. A tall thin guy with dark brown- almost black- hair and a bit of a stubble. I don't think he even introduced himself. He sucked. All his tables were near the bar (we were in a booth against the wall, near the bar) and we were only spoken to a total of 3 times when it came to ordering our food and receiving our drinks and salad. We had our bread first and received our salads and drinks at the same time a few minutes later. He picked up our salad bowls when we finished ten minutes later, but then we didn't see him again and only got our food via another server 30+ minutes later. After taking two bites and watching him talk to- what I assume are his regulars- all night, we just asked for to-go boxes and the check and when we told him our food got to us at room temp he said "third table tonight" and proceeded to, I assume, blame it on the cooks or someone else. As our server, was he not the one to bring us our food? After being buddy-buddy with one table of regulars all night? It was 4 people at a high table in front of the bar and he was consistently there. He walked past us to help other servers get food out like 8 times, but we were (me- 20 y/o, and mom- 40's) invisible. The only thing he was quick about bringing and picking up from us all night was the check! Which had two waters added on it even though we 1. didn't order water and 2. didn't receive water. Again, I love the female servers here, and I don't normally complain, but sitting at a table with no server for practically an hour really got to me tonight, 2/13/19 @ 7PM-8:40PM. I normally understand if it's an understaffed issue or something, but I really did watch our server all night, and he just did not come to our table at all. Kudos to the...
Read moreI First I want to say DeShawn (kitchen mgr) was the ONLY reason we didn't walk out. He is also the only reason for 2 stars. They didn't deserve ONE
We got there at 1:00 pm
We were seated immediately. We were not waited on for 15 mins. Ordered our drinks & another 15 mins got our drinks.
Vaughn coldly (bordering on condescending) took our order. (Keep in mind I have all the respect in the world for servers because I could not do what they do). I told him I would like my soup before the meal came. He looked at me & said "well that'll push their food back". Ummmmmmm doesn't soup or salad come before a meal? The others said that was fine. He took the rest of the orders & left. TWENTY minutes later (after ordering not after being seated) Vaughn came to our table & said they were out of ribs!!!!!! I said that's the only thing I like here. He said "that's the ONLY thing you like here??" sarcastically. I said YES IT IS. That's the only thing I ever order. Still no soup btw - 20 mins after ordering.
I asked for the manager. Out came DeShawn. I asked #1 how can they run out of ribs? #2 we still hadn't received anything after all that time and I was going on to #3 when he smiled (sweet man) and said "I have ribs in ready to come out". I asked why didn't Vaughn say that????? He said you were out!! I told him we'd been waiting a long time & still no soup or bread. That's when the visit turned around
The bread came, my soup came and then the order came including my ribs (no thanks to Vaughn!) The ribs were perfect.
My husband's field green salad with sirloin was good.
Daughter & son in laws burgers were just ok. There were missing items but DeShaen handled that as Vaughn was MIA until it was time to pay and of course tip. DeShawn is the one who deserved the tip.
Thank you so much to DeShawn who checked on us a couple of times. I told him he was the ONLY REASON we stayed or would come back. We eat here often and this was enough to say okkkkk next time & from now on...
