Sunset Cove Villas — Local services in Laguna Beach

The property appears newly refurbished with an Italian theme, is clean, offers a private beach access, has a common deck with a spectacular view of the ocean and even provides an area to shower off sand when leaving the beach.

However, for the price ($449/night for the1-bedoroom, no ocean view Djakarta “executive villa) there are some major issues.

The Sunset Villas appears to be a front property for a real estate company Keller Williams, with a website Everyday Luxury inc. No problem but that website showed several photos of beach views and the staff, located in La Quinta, CA near Palm Springs advised by telephone the Djakarta villa was absolutely a beach view. It was not a beach view but a view of an alley and a noisy taco restaurant next door on PCH Highway. The property is managed by the boutique hotel across the street, 14 West Hotel who lack knowledge about the property and required multiple phone calls for questions/repair concerns. The property offers no maid service at all……you are on your own for cleaning, making the beds, etc.

The villa, although nice, had a partially malfunctioning stove, and dishwasher, fire pit wouldn’t light and half a dozen remotes to operate tv’s that don’t use cable but rather multiple apps with no instructions for login information.

The underground parking is not “FREE”, costs $35/day and if you have anything larger than a small SUV, forget about parking it in the tight and cramped parking stalls.

Overall, the property is nice but I felt deceived the property was much less than advertised and was not worth the cost. I did not appreciate the property is managed by a hotel across the street staffed with by well-meaning young "kids" who try hard but are not motivated or invested to take care of problems with Sunset...

I can't express how amazing time my husband and I had there . For one our trip was not planned . It was our first time away in 15 years without the kids . We just showed up there not having any expectations. As we were checking in we were told they had villas on the beach available for a reasonable price . The guy that checked us in was awesome . He was thoughtful and knowledgeable . Any questions we had he had the answers . we showed up before check out time we were able to park in the private garage . The villa in walking distance to anything you need .We didn't use our car the whole time we stayed there . The rooms are clean and big . Anything you need is all there . Having a kitchen was nice to have . Since we both work nights our hours we get hungry tends to be 4 am nothing open . Love that we were on the water . Having beach access just down the stairs was lovely . Having your own space to enjoy the beach or the view from a safe area made the era of covid travel so much better . Our Villa located right on a beautiful private beach, large sliding glass door with wrap around windows, large balcony, beautiful and totally comfortable interior was absolutely wonderful!! The breeze!! 👍My 17 year old daughter and her 3 friends, had the best time after being cooped up for a year! Originally booked for Holiday inn with Sunset Cove Villas, I asked for an upgrade and to add an additional night. ..well they had a last minute cancellation at the villas and offered me that for the right price...totally worth it and such a surprise for the girls! The people at the counter are so helpful every time I stay whether I stay at Sunset Cove or Holiday Inn. Returning client for villas and the Inn for years.
