What a delicious and enjoyable lunch in Laguna Beach to celebrate my friend’s birthday!
Savor the Gu Ramen, which is customizable to spicy level, choice of noodles and toppings. The combination of Tonkotsu broth with pork and chicken and Chashu was so satisfying and delicious!! The added spinach gave me the veggies it needed.
My friend ordered the same thing except she had kale noodles, which is a great low carb option and added bean sprouts instead of spinach. She loved it!!
My friend (his birthday) ordered the Ramen Tofu with this Shoyu Umami Broth and double Tofu. It was delightful and it’s his regular go-to.
The spicy and regular edamame is the perfect appetizer! Very shareable!
The service was friendly. She remembers her regulars. Love the ambiance!! The open window is great!! It’s near the beach!
Just be prepared for the summer crowds in Laguna. Parking isn’t the easiest. You’ll probably have to circle around a bit. And, the traffic going into Laguna Beach can be frustrating so allow...

Right now, they have a completely open table for 6-8 that sat open while 4 parties waited to be seated (one for 4 people). 6 empty seats, not including the big table, and 4 parties waiting to pay. They desperately need more servers here. One person is sorta cleaning tables, stops half way, takes a to go order, drops a check, cleans half a new table, picks up a check. It's a disaster. We finally got seated and sat here for 20 minutes without even taking our drink or food order. For a place the size of a nail salon, it's impressive how bad the service is considering less than 40 patrons fit in the restaurant seated. HIRE MORE PEOPLE. I was tempted to call in a to go order while seated since they are so disorganized, but they don't even answer the phone, so don't even try that method. Get it to go, or via your favorite app. Seriously the best ramen around, if you don't have a migraine by the end...
Read moreHad one of the worst customer service experiences ever. My wife, son and I got to the restaurant a little before 7:00 and he was very hungry(we drove 30 minutes for Ramen). There were 12 customers in the restaurant and 20 open seats. The 3 employees refused to serve us at the table for 6 "just in case a larger party comes in." Having managed restaurants for over 20 years, I thought they must be joking. How could they seriously refuse to serve a hungry, paying family in case a better table came in? Luckily for them they are the only ramen in town or they would go the way of Gu in Santa Ana(closed). We ended up going to PHO in Laguna Niguel and had a great time. Gu Ramen you lost one of your biggest fans tonight. We will definitely not be back and will not recommend you to our clients and visitors. I recommend you read "The $6000 Egg". A great book about taking care of your customers and building...
