UPDATE IN RESPONSE TO THE OWNER Thank you for your gratuitous customer review!
We have moved plenty of furniture in a U-Haul without any issues. Whether we showed up with a white glove moving service, or in a $19.99 truck rental, that should not dictate how we are treated. To add to the insult, you felt compelled to shame us for using U-Haul. The fact that you even bring this up is petty, especially for a business owner.
Since you brought up plenty of details, mostly unrelated ones, I want to make sure you get the facts straight: At the time of purchase we were advised if someone was available, they would be able to help at time of pickup (part of your exceptional service, correct?) If not, we would take care of it ourselves and we were ready to do so. We even asked if we should call ahead and give you a heads up regarding pickup, but we were advised that was not necessary. As previously stated, my husband helped with loading the fully paid for piece of furniture; please do not make it seem you loaded the bookcase all by yourself. We had blankets and supplies to tie down the bookcase. There was no issue transporting the piece and we got it out of the truck, up the elevator, and to our place without any issues. You also failed to mention what happened in front of your store while getting ready to load the bookcase… Two female employees bickering about who is going to help us load the cabinet in order to avoid helping the annoying man inside the store. In case you didn’t realize: making negative comments about customers is not considered exceptional service. While we frequented your store on a few weekend days, spread over about 3-4 weeks, we were not there on a daily basis for hours on end. Only mentioning this to set the record straight. While the bookcase was in great condition, it was not pristine as you can see on the tag in attached picture. We are perfectly happy with the condition of the piece, I am simply rectifying your version of the details. As for the brand, I honestly do not care. But since you brought it up, I did some research. Ethan Allen furniture is distinguishable by the company stamp that bears the name of the manufacturing arm of the company and can be found on the back or bottom of furniture pieces and drawers. There is nothing on the piece purchased at your store that indicates this is Ethan Allen. All it states is "Made in China 2013". As a matter of fact, it is the Pulaski Chelsea Sliding Door bookcase sold by Costco in 2014, for $589.00. This bookcase might be inspired by Ethan Allen's Townhouse Curio Cabinet, but it is not Ethan Allen. I suggest you do some more research to avoid falsely advertising the identical bookcase that might be left in your store as Ethan Allen.
Again, we had positive initial experiences at your store, but what happened during pickup was not acceptable. Ultimately, your typical face-saving response demonstrates your undesirable treatment of PAYING customers. I wish you all the best and hope you can find the ability to refrain from further shaming any customers.
Original Review: The store has a great selection at different price points. We shopped a few times, bought a couple of smaller items, and our final purchase was a bookcase. Every experience was pleasant, until we picked up the bookcase. Both employees helping us were rude. The young man refused to wheel the bookcase on a furniture dolly about 30-40ft to where we moved the U-Haul and made us move the truck after commenting "are you serious?" The lady was even worse and kept barking instructions and remarks as if they were dealing with disobedient dogs. She kept saying how heavy the bookcase is. Amazingly enough, my husband and I were able to get it out of the truck, up the elevator, and into our place, all by ourselves. After this last experience, we will be taking our business to other consignment stores where they treat customers in a...
Read moreMy experience was both good and not so good. The good was that every month that I called to arrange to pick up my unsold pieces, they offered to keep them for several months longer. The bad side to that was the prices they ultimately sold these pieces for were garage sale type prices for what were higher end items. I received $49 on a custom king size upholstered bed with upholstered side boards and built-in box springs. I was also charged a $120 "professional cleaning fee" without any notice to me (discovered it when deducted from my proceeds) on a bed that had been inspected thoroughly by her team upon drop off, inspected by the buyer upon purchasing, AND inspected prior to transporting to the buyer's home. AFTER it was in the buyer's home, the buyer claimed it was dirty, and because this was a good client of hers, she charged me for the cleaning fee. No discussion, no notice. And when I called to address it with her, she yelled at me and hung up. I tried resolving via email, to which I received no response. I always question business owners who use the opportunity to respond to online reviews when they had plenty of opportunity to address it in private. If it had been, I would never resort to writing...
Read moreI absolutely love The Hunt, having sold and purchased some dozen items: furniture, art, cool decor items and even a favorite piece of jewelry. I visit every couple of weeks to see what's new in the store and always find new, surprising treasues. A quick stop to look around many times leads to an hour of day dreaming of how I can change a room with that one special find.
As a buyer, the prices are incredible. How about a pristine RH couch for $499? As a seller, the process was simple, easy and fair. Most items sold within a week or so, one larger piece of furniture took a bit longer but Margaret and team hung in there and got it sold. I received my commission checks per my contract.
Fair warning . . . if you see something you love, buy it! Or put it on the friendly 24 hour hold so you can run home and measure your space. Then go back and get right away. Stuff flys out the...
