Update:: as of 2:30 p.m. today Starbucks and I have came to an agreement which I am happy with and no Starbucks is not accepting any responsibility for the my injury just a deal with a apologies, Just waiting for the hospital's representatives to review the videos and to work this out as Starbucks and I did earlier today, and give me the name of all nurses who was putting their hands on me so I can go to State attorney's office and file charges and also file police reports this is the end of the update well update after hospital comes up with a solution that we can both live with and written apologys from all involved ,Remember video doesn't lie.:: Beginning::7/29I was admitted into hospital for severe chest pains , on the morning of 7/31/2024 around 8:00 a.m. I was told where the Starbucks was and that I could go down and get coffee after doing so the man at Starbucks Roosevelt the employee refuse to serve me because I was a patient at the hospital and was questioning my private medical in order for me to get a cup of coffee which is something I do not have to share with anyone especially a Starbucks employee to get a cup of coffee several nurses did get involved in which I was battered by more than one nurse who was grabbing me shoving me jerking me around in which I did receive a injury to my right hand , I did receive medical attention for the injury but I went to Gainesville to receive the medical attention now the man at Starbucks repeatedly tried to come out from behind his workstation to attack me and which y'all's nurses kept trying to calm Roosevelt down even calling him by his first name, A argument over coffee doesn't give your nurses the rights to manhandle me to put their hands on me and to cause me an injury I would not recommend this hospital because not only can the vendors be violent but their friends with the employees of the hospital and the employees will make it look like you're the bad guy just because you're trying to get a cup of coffee I even had a nurse tell me that he was supposed to call upstairs to make sure that coffee was something that I could have I believe this nurse does not know or understand the hippo laws that are in place to protect people's personal medical information there is a camera right above Starbucks that will show everything I am saying is not just a claim these events did take place and that the Starbucks employee did more than once threatened did more than once try to come out of his workstation to attack me and I was battered and assaulted by several nurses in a public section of the hospitals lobby as y'all's video will show I do not believe a nurse or any other employee of a hospital should ever have the rights to put their hands on any patient and treat them the way that I was treated with a heart monitor on in plain sight on my person all because of a cup of coffee and a man that I did not feel comfortable with questions and asking about my medical information this is not a safe hospital the employees will cover for other people in the hospital who are their friends they will even put their hands on you and cause you injuries beware but I did get the coffee once I agreed to sign myself out AMA and was battered and assaulted by more than one nurse in a public area with onlookers all because of a cup of coffee please review the video I would like to hear from someone I have called Left complaints with Larry Thomas with Starbucks with the victim advocate at the hospital I even complain to the doctor who was handling my case who also said that that is not the hospital's policy he was apologetic and said at no time should anyone be asking or calling to receive anyone's medical information even concerning diets it still falls under the hippo laws it's protected admitted on7/29 forced to sign ama on 7/ 31 in return for a cup of coffee as video on the second floor will show I signed the AMA and then was given the cup of coffee and escorted out of the hospital but no one will help me or give me the nurses names of the nurses so I can file a report to...
Read moreI normally don't broadcast negative experiences that I have had. I get it, people have bad days, people going through personal things, you know life happens! This is the 1st time in which I am doing this!
However, I am so beyond disappointed in HCA Florida Lake City Hospital ER department! I was checked in say 4:10. They took labs, ran test, etc. put me back in the "waiting room" cool, no problem!
6pm I asked for water, they will get it in a minute. It's busy, so I understand, so 630 I asked for a cup of ice because apparently the water was forgotten about. 7pm still no water and no ice.
6:00 p.m., a lady was discharged and left her blanket on the chair as most people do.
The ER was busy, but no one came to clean that area. You will think that a place that is structured around healing will practice cleanliness a little more, especially with it being cold and flu season, not to mention all these viral and respiratory viruses going around.
The lady was discharged at 6 pm, and at least 5 patients came in the waiting room sitting on the blanket as well as using it. Patient number 3 forgot his vomit bag on it in which he was gagging in.
Needlessly, to say, my daughter whom is a CNA came back (930pm, she went to car becauae it was no where to sit), no room to sit SHE GRABBED A PAIR OF THEIR GLOVES, PUT ON & CLEANED THE AREA. She then went to the desk to ask the nurse for a bag, holding it dirty, linening up in the air & away from her. The nurse asked her, "What did she need a bag for?" She said, "because this has been sitting in the chair for a few hours now, and I feel it should be cleaned up!" Nurse responded, "o yea, I would get it from you, but I dont have any gloves!" (You got to be F'n kidding me), and by the way, it is now 930! And my daughter brings me water.
The bathroom is worse than the waiting room! I understand people are nasty and shouldn't piss all over the seats and floors, but dang, some people are, as I stated "NASTY". Which is why there are housekeepers, you know, paid to do a job! I did, however, see one keep passing by never once coming into the waiting room or cleaning the bathroom. Maybe she is saving it for the next shift đ¤ˇđžââď¸. Needless to say, by the time I was discharged, she NEVER once came into the waiting room to clean nor sanitize it down.
The cleanliness IS just an infection waiting to be carried into homes! Maybe why these viruses continue to rise (IDK). However, it was Despicable how unclean it was!!!
And, though I am OK, from all the different labs, tests, etc. I was told I was "SERVERLY DEHYDRATED" and though I was administered an I.V. about 430/445, I never received a drop of fluids. Hell, I wasn't even giving an asprin! A vomit bag as patient #3 whom sat on dirty blanket & used though I was complaining of feeling nauseous. I was literally stuck in the waiting room for 4ish until after 11.
I am a patient person, but my patience was out, and I was going to sign an AMA to leave because No MedicaI Advice was given. However, I was advised not to from a trusted medical personnel. I know because I called her and asked her the process of signing an AMA.
By the way, the only updates I was given were when I asked. I asked at 830 & 1030 for labs & updates & that was dr reading them. I was taken in a room after 11 to have IV removed still no diagnostic just removing my IV! And literally seconds before walking out the door after my daughter acted the way I use to or "If it was my Momma" attitude! I was kindly given 2 cups of ice AFTER discharge & after 11pm. So much for being SERVERLY DEHYDRATED- thanks HCA. I wonder how much my bill will be for that? đ
Never seen the Dr. No one ever came back in the "waiting room" to check on me. Other than 2 cups of ice AFTER I was discharged ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!
That ride to Gainesville does not seem so far away now. Besides those nice young ladies that stand at that desk, clicking pens, talking and etc. is there for a check, NOT PATIENT CARE!
And, yes, I will be making an official...

(A nurse cannot talk about what they see on a CT scan in front of other patients, even if they are unrelated to the first patient, because it violates the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), which protects patient privacy. Discussing a patient's protected health information (PHI) in public or to individuals not involved in their care is a HIPAA violation and can lead to penalties and reputational damage.
Why it's a violation: Patient Privacy: HIPAA is a U.S. federal law that requires health care providers to protect the privacy of patient information, known as protected health information (PHI). Confidentiality: All health information, including CT scan findings, is considered confidential and should only be shared with those directly involved in the patient's treatment or payment for care. Lack of Relevance: Other patients have no relation to the patient's care and no right to access their PHI. )
Now that we have that out of the way I witnessed two nurses that run the CT scan for the ER talk about patients information, talk bad about doctors and staff they work with, and do it all in front of 3-4 patients that had no relation or knowledge of each other. Ms. Thomas was spoken loudly and clearly about her tumor and dark rings on her CT scan. The elderly gentleman on the bed waiting for a scan was talked about loudly and how he has sores on his privates and they shouldnât have to move him to the pad they should take him back up and let the other nurses deal with it.
The charge nurse nice lady went and got their managers where those two ladyâs proceeded to tell me they didnât violate HIPAA and she would tell them to not talk bad about the doctors around patients. Talking about any patients medical information in front of anyone else other than staff IS A VIOLATION of FEDERAL LAW. But the manager doesnât seem to think so. If thatâs the case then Iâd be worried how much of our medical information is being spread around and what kind of staff is providing care for those patients.
Charge nurse seemed like she cared and is who got the manager involved but that managers first reaction was to dispute a legal action and not fix the problem. Better to shoot it down and save face than fix the problem at hand.
This is the only time Iâve ever left a hospital and felt unsafe.
As far as the nurses that I delt with in the ER, my Nurse Practitioner, and the other ladies were very sweet and professional when I spoke with them.
My date of care for verification was 09/02/2025 entered at 9:48am. Left a little after 12pm. Same name as on my Google review. I would like a reply from someone about this and an explanation why the hospital feels this did not violate HIPAA when a HIPAA rep stated this was a violation I have the email and contact...
