Disappointing We always take our children out to Roadhouse on their birthday. It's not cheap, but it's a special day. My daughter and I share a handout boneless ribeye. $36 worth. Not including my husband's filet and granddaughters meal. NP. When we got the steak, we noticed that the middle was all fat and gristle and I don't mean just a little. Then all of the outside edges were fat and gristled by the time we cut out the meat, there was a small medallion of steak left. Less than 1/3 was even edible. And both my daughter and I do enjoy some of the fat. The manager came, was coldly polite, had it replaced. Of course our loaded baked potatoes were ice cold by that time. And the manager never even bothered to offer to replace all of it. She wasn't very happy. Even though we had cut it up and showed her exactly what we were talking about, and it had not eaten any of it, they had just brought it. Second steak was half unchewable gristle and fat. I just loaded it into a togo container. The dog will eat a very expensive treat. Lastly, we made it clear to the waitress that it was our daughter's birthday on arrival when drink orders were taken. We know she heard us because we all joked about the saddle being broken at that, we couldn't use the saddle. Who cares no biggie. Our waitress having to wait? Also was still polite, but you could see that it was a forced smile. Because you know as busy as it was, her table wasn't turning over. We get it. It wasn't our fault. We had to wait for our meal to be remade, and we tried to hurry to be polite. But she never even acknowledged the birthday at the end like they do. You can't say it was because of the tip. We left $20. But it seems like roadhouse has gone downhill. Their meat is worse than it ever was, and their prices are higher than you've ever seen.
We have never expected perfection, and we usually let most things slide and just deal with them, because it's not like it used to be. But there was no way I was leaving the all glowing five star recommendation, I left last time because this wasn't worth paying for. Certainly not $93.
My suggestion, if you're going out to have a special dinner? Choose somewhere else. Texas Roadhouse in Lake...
Read moreGoing to give them a one star review for several reasons. For starters the prime rib was not available. I went all the way there just to have that. The sides were also ridiculously salty. Even my family wanted to wash their shrimp and mushrooms in water. Which also were overly charred and dry. The portion also was so small. I even ordered double portions of mushrooms and onions. I sent it back because the mushrooms were soggy, too salty and charred burnt. It took forever coming back, was cold and looked the same.
The food runner gave the wrong steaks because my family ordered the same thing and there were no plastic temperature steak markers showing which was which! So they ended up eating each other's steaks because they didn't notice until a few bites in. My T-Bone steak was hardly seasoned and really tasted bland like a Walmart steak. I felt the portions were very small for the sides.Especially for a 30+ dollar T-Bone plate. The shrimp was supposed to come on rice and didn't. The prices also went up considerably and the little table computer forces you to pay a 20% tip now? We had to tip 20 dollars when we felt the service warranted 15 tops. Usually 10 percent is required and anything after that is a courteousy. I had to pay twice for switching my soda to tea also. The manager Ashley asked how everything was and I mentioned the sides were too salty. She just rolled her eyes at me and smiled saying "that's how it is served". I didn't ask for a discount but surely deserved one for all the inconvenience. Especially for the no prime rib, mystery steak temperatures and the food wasn't that great for a bill over 100. I will be trying longhorn next time. I really liked the prime rib here so that's a shame. I was told they serve it on Wednesdays and not just in the evening. We rarely eat out as it is. Oh and the blasting music was not pleasant either. The music was way too loud outside and inside. The waitress was nice, but for 115 dollars I could have cooked a feast...
Read moreSo, this might have been a bad night but given our experience I would assume it's normal. I don't usually leave reviews unless it's really bad or really good. Today was really bad. I am from Texas. It is a staple. The thing about TRH is that it is not a regional eatery, it is the same everywhere. That's the point. It is all about experiencing Texas. The rolls here are not the same. I ordered the NY Strip, fries, and apple sauce. So did my husband, except he got sweet potatoes as the sides. We also got the blooming onion. Kids got their food. As far as our food goes..
The cut was wrong. It was medium rare like requested but surprisingly dry. The mushroom and onion smothering was cooked weird with some different seasoning. I couldn't even taste the mushrooms because there was so much seasoning poured on. The sautéed onions weren't cooked all the way and I would have just filled up on fries but they had so much salty seasoning I couldn't eat them either. The blooming onion was over cooked that the onions were hard on one side and undercooked on the other. The only good thing was the applesauce and the sweet potatoes.
This is a franchise and I hope the owners or the franchise sees this review. Do better. Do not try to pass off the wrong cut of steak assuming your customers won't know any different. If your customers don't eat their food, obviously it wasn't made correctly.
My assumption is this restaurant makes it simply because it is surrounded by hotels of people too tired to speak up or they do not know how TRH food should taste. Too tired to bring up the issues was the kind of patrons we were today. Too tired to ask for it to be remade but not too exhausted to know if we did, they probably wouldn't have done any better, considering they thought serving us what we would describe as "a thick cut of sirloin served with undercooked onions, and the whole meal doused with something similar to Uncle Chris seasoning" was okay...
