IF YOU HAVE HAD A PROBLEM WITH XS TENNIS FILE A COMPLAINT WITH THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU IT IS EASY TO DO AND FORCES THE BUSINESS TO ADDRESS YOUR ISSUE.
Unfortunately I had nearly the exact same experience as Doren. I called to cancel my membership in May 2022 (I have the phone records to prove this) and my card continued to be charged for nearly two more years, without my consent. I repeatedly called the club to speak to someone and nearly every person I spoke with from the front desk was unprofessional, rude, condescending, and arrogant.
I finally reached Jennifer Murray, who was incredibly rude and refused to refund my money. So this business charged my credit card WITHOUT MY CONSENT, REPEATEDLY, and they will not refund my money? THAT'S FRAUD.
She continued to imply that it was my fault my membership wasn't cancelled. "It's very easy to cancel a membership," she kept repeating--exactly, so why wasn't mine cancelled? She confirmed that a cancellation via phone was sufficient to cancel the membership. Furthermore, the ease or difficulty with which a membership can be cancelled does not matter; I followed the appropriate steps to cancel the membership and it was not cancelled. In subsequent interactions she tried to BACKTRACK and state that email confirmation is also required to cancel--this was simply not true at the time I was a member.
More about my interaction with Jennifer Murray: -She was incredibly rude, condescending, and yelled at me on the phone -She hung up in my face to end the call while I was still talking -She refuses to call me back and ignores my emails -She stated that if I provided her with phone records proving that I called to cancel, she would investigate further--when I did this, she stated that she actually would not be doing anything else regarding the matter -Her documented "evidence" against me is a word document with one line stating that email is required to cancel membership, something she clearly wrote in one minute AFTER THE FACT
I had no choice at this point but to file a credit card claim--now that I've done that, she has stated that all chances of a refund with XS tennis are not possible. Sounds like a weak excuse if you ask me-- a credit card claim doesn't preclude you doing the right thing...
I have also filed a complaint with the BBB, which is still pending and engaged a lawyer. I ENCOURAGE ANYONE WHO HAS HAD A PROBLEM WITH XS TENNIS TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH THE BBB. That is the only way to get their attention and actually have them respond to you professionally.
None of these even addresses my experience as a member there, which includes: -Frequently booking 8am courts (when the business opens) because that is the only time I can play before work, and having to wait in the freezing cold as the person opening the tennis center was consistently 15 minutes late (I always lost court time) -One time the person opening was 20 minutes late and arrived in pajamas and hair rollers, clearly having just woken up while me and three other people waited outside in the Chicago winter to get inside for our courts -Booking a ball machine only to find out once I am on court that it does not work -Contacting someone from the website about a clinic only to have her reply that she has not worked there in two years -Being double charged for court bookings -Consistently being told that I was playing on the wrong court, resulting in confusion and lost court time
I have warned all of you--they WILL steal your money, one...
Read moreThe XS Tennis owner (Kamau Murray) and the staff members are atrocious, horrendous, deplorable, uncouth, fraudulent, thieves.
If you care about the well-being of yourself and your family, you will not deal with this place or anyone associated with them.
Our child did not enjoy themselves and received little to no help with their tennis game.
Our family visited the facility and had a good first impression. We were excited to support a black-owned tennis facility on the south side of Chicago.
Our child expressed interest in tennis, and we thought this would be the ideal location to start their education. WRONG!
When we first attempted to sign our child up for summer tennis camp, we went in person and were informed we had to sign up online. We created our account and completed all of the required information. The system charged us for a full day when we got to the final payment step.
We contacted XS Tennis and were informed only Kamau would be able to resolve the issue and that he would call us back. We waited two business days and did not receive a call. We called again and received the same story. This time the front desk staff assured us that a spot would be saved for our child and that Kamau would rectify the situation.
This never happened. We never received a callback.
We arrived in person to signup for camp and encountered the head of the summer camp program, Desiree. After taking our child's name, she directed us to the front desk to pay. The front desk clerk, an uninformed teenager, could not figure out the correct amount to charge.
The staff and their flyer said the cost is $750 for eight weeks of camp, half days. They were attempting to charge $900. When balking at the price change, they responded, "that was a typo, and everyone else paid $900". No accountability for what they wrote on their flyer!
At this point, our child was already excited about attending this tennis camp, and we did not want to find another camp. We paid the additional $150 and hoped these issues were behind us.
WRONG AGAIN!
They imposed an education enrichment tutor into their curriculum. This ate up an hour of our child's three hours at camp. We did not want or ask for this tutor as our child is on the honor roll.
When we confronted the staff, we were given conflicting information. One person said it is only for the full-day students, and the other said it is voluntary. Our child told us they were made to participate.
After all of this nonsense, we decided to pull our child from this hell hole and hire a private coach.
After an extremely unpleasant conversation with, Desiree, we requested a refund for the remaining weeks and were told we would receive a small percentage of the remaining amount.
Just to let you know, you have...
Read moreThis place is ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY, THE WORST! My family and I have never experienced a worse experience than the one we just encountered with XS TENNIS. The staff, including the owner was NOT PROFESSIONAL & NOT PREPARED for anything. I urge anybody who is considering this facility to stay away from this place! Stay far, far away! This place is a red Flag haven, an institution of unprofessionalism. All they do is LIE, CHEAT and STEAL!! What they advertise is NOT what they offer & they are NOT who they proclaim themselves to be. They never return phone calls, emails or communicate with you with integrity. The owner, despite being at the facility on a daily basis is never "available" and the entire experience was just an utter disaster and I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. Lie #1) Before we signed my son up, my family and I was told that we could sign him up, & pay for 8 weeks work of classes with the option to take a week off. But on the first day of camp instead of paying for 8 weeks we were told we had to pay for the entire 9. Lie #2 My family and I were NOT told that they changed the camp structure with no notice whatsoever and added an "academia portion" of the camp that was forced on us that took time away from the original premise of the camp which was tennis. in my eyes that's CHEATING us out of time that we paid to learn tennis. But of course they pointed that out and "informed" us that that was part of the camp going in. But my son wanted to play and we were willing to give them a chance. Then it was brought to my attention that because we were only going for half a day that my son did NOT have to partake in the academia portion. But he (my son) informed me that he had to. So after 3 weeks of lies, and seeing my son's spirit being broken due to him not having any fun, I pulled him from camp and XS TENNIS had the gall to NOT compensate me accordingly. I am shocked and appalled by the lack of communication, accountability, professionalism, and knowledge that the staff showed on a regular basis and I equally appalled by the arrogance that I encountered during my short experience there. they'll be hearing from my lawyer if I am not compensated accordingly. But again, stay far...
