Sol Salon Chicago — Local services in Lake View Township

I went to try this salon for the first time about a year ago. Cut was fine enough, but my hair was damaged after the blow dry, so I did not return for a while. One of the only times my hair looked better going into the salon than it did coming out. I needed a quick trim and they are nearby to me so I decided to try again with a different stylist. Very lackluster cut and just doesn't feel worth the price. The shape is not flattering and I am considering having it redone. Both times it just feels too much to pay for what I receive. I have no problem paying for quality, but this seems like their prices are 15-20% too high for the skill level I receive, unfortunately. I see a ton of great reviews, which is good. May just not be a good match for me. Everyone is very nice and I wanted to like this place so much. I just think it is too expensive and cuts are really just okay. I'd rather pay the same or more for a better cut....

I had really long hair and got quite fed up with it, so I decided it's time to finally to chop it all off. I was both very nervous and excited for this moment, and I'm glad to say that the folks here at Sol made the experience absolutely fantastic! Gianni was SO wonderful, professional, friendly, and incredibly skilled at his craft -- not only was it fun to joke around and have a good time, but his expertise resulted in a haircut that I absolutely LOVED! Best part of all is that Gianni works with a non-profit that accepts hair donations, so all that hair will go to a good cause :^) If you want to feel welcomed, comfortable, and leave with a great cut, I can't recommend this place enough!!

Insensitive. Canceled a same day appointment for my mom bc my brother had a 102 fever. Stylist replied quickly, which was nice. We wanted to confirm the cancellation fee so we were not confused when we saw the transaction on the bank account. Then 2 minutes later the stylist posts a instagram “reminder” on her story that same day cancellation cause stylists money and so yes theres a fee…. That was insensitive and condescending. Yes, I understand same day cancellations suck but also no one plans to have a sick child. For that to be posted minutes after our conversation was too obviously directed at us and...
