They really need to train their managers better specially âJoshâ who decided to detain my wife and autistic son for opening a $1.28 candy. While my wife and son were in line to pay because my son doesnât think of consequences or have much feelings because of his autism he started playing with a candy we told him to put it back where it was but allegedly while we were not looking he squeezed the candy too hard and popped open the bag, he didnât eat it, he didnât steal it. We just kept waiting in line, if we wouldâve known he opened we wouldâve bought the candy, but out of nowhere here comes the great manager Josh in a loud and demanding tone told my wife âyou opened it you buy itâ but because of his rude tone and because we were unaware our son had opened the candy we thought he was joking so my wife laughed and said he has the wrong person. Good communication from this police wannabe âJoshâ wouldâve prevented the whole conflict by just explaining what they said happened we wouldâve purchased the $1.28 candy but instead he left and after we paid for our items my wife found him at the exit door blocking it with a cashier and detained them until they paid for the candy. My wife once again explained they had the wrong person and that they didnât open any candy but Josh still blocking the door then accused my wife of eating the candy because she was chewing something which if it was enough of a humiliation having someone blocking the door detaining you while yelling, my wife opened her mouth to show Josh she was eating a gum she had in her purse, then the cashier helping Josh block the door finally explained that supposedly she saw our son playing with the candy and she thinks he opened it, while Josh was still detaining my family threatened them with calling the cops so my wife decided to pay for the candy. We have never shoplifted anything nor we teach that to our kids which is why my wife made our son pay Josh and apologize, because she thought they were right, but having such an arrogant manager with grandiose delusion canât be good for a store like hobby lobby. After this whole humiliating incident ended and we got home we sat with our autistic son and spoke to him like we are supposed to because obviously Josh has no idea how an 11 years old autistic kid thinks or acts, our son explained that he did grabbed the candy because he wanted it but after was told to put it back he noticed it was opened so he tried to âfix itâ but by doing so another candy came out and panicked and just threw it on the shelf. We personally didnât see it but itâs really hard for our son lie while he is being treated like he should, if this indeed happened like the cashier says it did we are not excusing our sons behavior but the way Josh acted, detained, and humiliated my family is completely unacceptable. Specially for a dollar candy that was still...
Read moreI wouldnât recommend this store at all. My wife was accused for stealing for putting an item on top of the stroller while attending to one of our two kids. Jennifer the store manager is extremely rude and then when my wife advised her that she was looking at other items in the back of the store that âshe better leave before this becomes worse and she calls the police for stealing.â My wife was in the back of the store nowhere near the registers. Then when I called to speak to her about the situation she hung up on me when trying to get her bossâs information. I called back and advised her she was on a recorded line and still refused the information other than the 800 corporate number. Then she advised I was being too aggressive asking for the information and then continues to hang up on me when calling. Called the corporate number she gave after the 1st hang up. She canât deal with people and it shows. I wouldnât go to this store run by her if it was the last store hobby lobby had. Complete and...
