Brilliant Bridal — Local services in Lakeside

This was the last shop of our appointments for our day and I got the time wrong so we ended up showing up 30 minutes early. They were still welcoming and did what they could to get us in. Our associate was Rae and she was an absolute delight. She listened to what I wanted, provided excellent feedback and suggestions, and really did a phenomenal job of helping me determine what was my wedding dress versus what was just a beautiful gown I felt pretty in. I had a dress at a previous store to beat and she took that into account when discussing with me. She made a very stimulating and overwhelming experience less intimidating so I was able to find what worked and what I loved. She also was such a great hype person that I never felt self conscious or insecure. I also did not feel pressured, I felt like she wanted me to find my dress and if I didn’t that was okay. The prices were reasonable and I LOVED I got to take my gown home with me. Especially since my fiancé and I are eloping in a couple of weeks! The rest of the staff also was so supportive when it came to making sure we had a good idea and accurate representation of what alterations needed to be done. I also recognize I will use my own tailor so I cannot comment on their recommendations. Every step of the way I felt heard, supported, and cared for. I cannot thank Rae enough for the help in making the whole experience fun, productive, and effective. She really did make picking a dress more real and less like an extravagant dress up session (although of course we did that at times too!). I loved this shop and I would 100% recommend to another bride to be. I had a terrible experience at this bridal shop. I went about a week ago now, and the first thing was the appointment started 15-20mins late which whatever it's a busy season. But because of this my stylist was super rushed it felt like from the first moment till the end. She asked what type of dresses I liked and I was open still but had some preferences. She brought over 2 max the entire appointment that semi fit my preferences. The stylist was nice but so chaotic.. The stylist also did not go over privacy in the dressing room, the curtains were semi cracked the entire time changing that I could see other bridal parties through them. So if you care about that, they don't go over it or make sure you're okay with it like most bridal shops do. She also almost made me fall as she grabbed a dress my leg was still in and I was still getting out of. She mentioned being a bit frazzled this day due to running late. She also semi snapped at one of my bridal parties girls for asking me questions which made ALL of us uncomfortable and felt like that was super inappropriate. And that was the moment I knew I was just over it here. The stylist overwhelmed me so much that I was just defeated at the end, and on the verge of tears honestly. I felt like overall this place just wanted a sale, didn't listen to my preferences and made the appointment terrible. I could of maybe found a dress I liked but it's unfortunate that the stylist just made it so miserable and overwhelming that I didn't even want to keep looking. I don't recommend this place for a bride at all, it was the least personal shop i've ever been to and trust all reviews with they are SO pushy and sales people. Brilliant Bridal was kind enough to fit me in on a same day appointment - I was in the city for the day and wanted to browse their selection (with little to no urgency to find a dress since my date is early next year). At this point, I had been to other bridal stores/tried on a variety of styles and had narrowed down what I wanted in “the dress.”

Peter was my stylist and he was truly genuine from the get go. He understood what I was looking for and was not pushy at all. I enjoyed that my sister and I could browse their selection with dress suggestions from Peter.

While they had a great selection of dresses that fit what I was looking for - I ended up trying on a unique dress that not only hit everything I was looking for, but had a “wow” factor. To my surprise it ended up being “the dress” as I couldn’t see myself in anything else after.

After saying “Yes” to my dress - Peter was so helpful with suggestions for small adjustments to make the dress a perfect fit with alterations. I was also very happy with their price point as my budget was $2k and everything in the store is under that. Everything is off the rack so I loved that I could take the dress home that day.

I would highly recommend making an appointment to check out Brilliant’s inventory at the very minimum - I went in open minded but not thinking I’d find “the dress” since I’m pretty particular and thorough but couldn’t be happier and more excited...
