Took my son there fishing for THE VERY FIRST TIME EVER IN LIFE! Lots of speculation leading up to as where to go to not get skunked. You know, didn't want the boy to lose interest after the first outing. Well friends I set him up with a worm and a bobber. We started walking around the lake... I kept telling reel that slack in... Watch that bobber... See your getting a bite... Nope too much slack... Got to keep that line tight... Gotta set the hook. Lo and behold he ended up catching two that's right two nice bluegill. (One he actually took the hook out himself after demonstrating on the first one the trick of the fins) took them home, I cleaned them, filleted then, breaded and fried them, and he actually commented on how delicious they were! Success! Thanks to that little lake (and a little luck) my son is excited to go try again. Mission accomplished. Nice lake. Easy access shore fishing. Good...
Read moreBerkeley Lake Park is one of Denver's best northside public areas. With a full service recreation center and a boathouse in operation – to my knowledge – tennis courts, and I believe there's a library on the grounds as well - the park is an integral part of the Denver community. Landscaping is functional with a playground and restrooms, although they were locked during this winter. I would love to see tall trees and shrubbery on the north side to block out the sound and hustle and bustle of interstate 70. Lakeside amusement park sits directly west. It's hard to say how long that park will hang on , but it's definitely showing signs of aging every year. Redeveloping that park Will be a major harbinger of change. Here's to Denver Parks and Recreation for their long-standing work over the decades. Metro Denver and visitors benefit from the citizens' investment in open space...
Read moreIt’s always a pleasure to stop by Berkeley Lake Park. It features a nice loop for a quick jog / walk / bike ride. There’s nothing better than seeing the beautiful water while admiring the gorgeous mountains in the distance.
However, the park is located by an interstate so there is always a lot of noise pollution. The entrances into the park itself are also filled with potholes and debris, so biking into and out of the park is challenging. It’s also quite sad that the city doubled up the bike lanes on 46th to be parking spots. It is not the safest to bike here because you’re forced to weave in and out of the bike lane to avoid parked cars. Otherwise, a very wholesome place to enjoy urban nature, and it’s a quick walk away from some cool places on Tennyson street (Bookbar and Second love thrift store to...
