My daughter purchased a free people cardigan with her birthday gift card in late September. It was a pricey $168 sweater, but it was one she had wanted for a while. Unfortunately, the weather didn’t cool down enough to wear it for the first time until late October. She wore the sweater once and then I washed it according to the directions on the tag and then hung it dry (even though it said to dry it in the dryer, I was nervous about that). As I was hanging it to dry I noticed a large hole in the sweater and tears starting to form near the pockets too. I contacted Adorn in Lakeway and after a lot of back and forth they reluctantly said bring the sweater in for us to see and bring your proof of payment. When I took the sweater in they said a manager was not there and requested I leave the sweater until the manager came the next day. I left the sweater and received a voicemail from the manager the next day saying that because it was past their return policy there was nothing they were willing to do at that point. She said they reached out to the owner and their free people rep and all agreed they would do nothing about it. I wasn’t asking for a refund … I wanted an exchange - they had the exact sweater at their store to exchange for me but chose not to. All she said was you can easily throw a couple stitches in there to fix the hole. This is long winded, but my question is how are you sourcing and selling clothes that you AND the brand are not willing to stand by if the product literally is falling apart after 1 wear and wash? I was not trying to exchange after a year - it was 6 weeks after the purchase was made. I will not be shopping at Adorn anymore because of this. If we want something from Free People I will be direct from them. I work at another local boutique and this is not how we handle quality issues. * I would post a photo of the sweater but they currently have it...
