I’ll be honest, the 4 out of 5 star rating worried me a bit but whoever be giving this place 1 star is trippin!!! THIS PLACE IS YUMMY! Not your “hole in the wall Mexican“ but definitely a well deserved place! All the flavors were on point!! A perfect amount of grease, not too much not too little, great service, delicious margaritas. I liked their menu!! They had a mix of traditional and new style Mexican. On the enchiladas options there was mushroom enchiladas?!? I had NEVER seen that in any places in SA growing up so I had to try one that way, NOT BAD!! I got the 3 enchiladas dinner plate so my other 2 were my traditional go to with chicken verdes. Their chicken is labeled spicy, though I didn’t think it was spicy, it sure was delicious!!!! Also, they had so many sauces to choose from! Omg and I wanted to go ham on their à la carte options!! I’ve never seen a Mexican restaurant have so many options you can order on the side. It was hard to choose from a dinner plate or just get 5 things on the à la carte bc everything sounded amazing! My husband also got the shrimp Diablo and he was NOT disappointed! Great service, great food, great drinks!

I am from out of town and just happened upon this place. The waitress suggested I try the newest taco platter on the menu. It described the taco meat as beef fajita meat but this wasn't like any beef fajitas I've ever had. Not knocking the others. This meat was tender chunks of perfectly seasoned beef. It still had some of the chipotle, I think, flavored marinade clinging to it making this dish downright succulent. There was fresh made pico de gallo, a small pile of cojita cheese, and avocado slices added to the plate so one could add what was desired to each taco. The usual sides of rice and beans accompanied. The salsa that was brought out with chips was house made with fresh ingredients. It was a bit thin but more than made up for it with the fresh flavor. I ordered the tres leches cake for dessert. It was sublime. The restaurant was clean with festive decor. My waitress was always on point. She was informative, very pleasant, and stayed on top of my needs without hovering. My entire meal was excellent.

⸻ 5 Stars – A Heart for Community! Flores Mexican Restaurant isn’t just known for their delicious food—they’re also champions for the next generation! We’re incredibly grateful to Flores for hosting the Squeeze the Day lemonade stand during Lakeway Parks and Rec’s First Annual Lemonade Day. Their support gave our young entrepreneurs the perfect location to shine, learn, and grow. Thank you, Flores, for pouring into the community and showing what it means to invest in future leaders—one lemon at a time! #SupportLocal #YoungEntrepreneurs #LakewayTX #LemonadeDay

I've been going to Flores Mexican Restaurant mostly because it’s the closest Tex-Mex option to my neighborhood. However, the food is mediocre. They cut corners by using ingredients like canned jalapeños in their queso and many dishes are overly greasy. The margaritas are artificially flavored, overpriced drinks. The only items worth mentioning are their salsa and tortillas, which are quite good.

A few months ago, the entire takeout order was wrong and when I mentioned it, they only remade one taco because it was for a child with special dietary needs. I didn't realize the rest of the order was still wrong until I got home. When I asked for a refund for the incorrect items, the manager was rude and dismissive and told me he couldn’t process the refund until the end of the shift. I never received the refund. I just let it go at the time and mentally noted not to return.

Yesterday, a friend was visiting from out of town and we decided to give Flores another shot because we were on a tight schedule and the location was convenient. From the beginning, the waitress had an odd vibe and made us feel uncomfortable. My friend even considered requesting a different server, but I insisted that everyone deserves a chance and hoped for a better experience. We ordered tea, a Mexican martini, queso, and water. The server brought the drinks and asked if we wanted some queso or guacamole, even though we already requested queso.

The waitress kept returning and asking if we needed more time to order food, even though we were mainly there to talk and enjoy our drinks. It felt pushy and intrusive, so my friend ordered a small meal just to get her to stop asking. She then asked if my friend wanted another Mexican martini. I asked if we could take the drink to go and she replied, “Yes, we do that.” However, my friend decided that he wanted to finish it there.

As he was finishing his drink, I requested to-go cups for tea and water, as well as a to-go container for his uneaten food since neither of us was really hungry. While we were packing up, the same rude manager from before came over and informed us that we couldn’t take alcohol to go. We both politely said, "Okay," and continued getting ready to leave.

On our way out, we asked for a bag for the to-go container. At that moment, over eight employees stood around and stared at us like we had just done something wrong. We felt extremely uncomfortable and my friend even showed the employee who gave us the to-go bag that his cup only had water in it, proving that we weren’t taking alcohol to go. Despite our politeness, the entire situation felt degrading and hostile.

Our bill was around $62 and we had already left a 20% cash tip before the accusations and judgmental stares began. I don’t know the names of the employees, though the manager, who is heavy-set with dark hair and a scruffy face, has consistently shown unprofessionalism and a lack of customer service skills. The waitress was attentive, though she seemed incompetent and made the experience awkward.

Overall, between the poor service, lack of quality, and hostile atmosphere, it’s hard to recommend Flores Mexican Restaurant. The convenience isn’t worth the repeated negative...

Went for lunch with kids and invited a friend to join. Not from Lakeway and I guess the waitress could tell or was just that way. Waited a bit to be seated and asked for a view of the playground. This way my son could play and we could relax, eat, and chat. We passed up the inside seating with a view, passed up the outside patio, and into the ground area. Seated at a table with the most sun possible in this 100° weather. She was very quick and in a hurry just asking for our drinks. We told her our drinks and just walks away as I'm trying to ask for another table. I look to see the empty table inside being filled. She comes back and again urgently puts drinks on table and runs back off. By this time we have our drinks and chips. Already irritated I just try and enjoy the convo and water. She comes back to take our order and is irritated looking when we weren't taking anytime to order since we had been sitting and knew what we wanted. I asked for an adult drink and almost didn't get it out before she wanted to run off. After our food got there we didn't see her again. All done with our meal, kids out of water, and still no sign of her. We all were hot and waiting for our check to pay and get away from this place. Finally another waitress came so we asked her to find out waitress for check. Worst experience ever. I have a few great Mexican restaurants here by me. Maybe the manager should come over and see how business is conducted.

Overall the food was mediocre at best. Service was terrible. The atmosphere couldn't be observed due to heat and irritation from the server. Still tipped her but was more of "let's get out...

This is our new favorite Mexican restaurant in Lakeway! The Cheese enchiladas(10), the spinach enchiladas(10 but the sauce is very spicy, so watch out), crispy beef tacos(9), rice(8.5), beans(9.5), and salsa(10) are all VERY good (overall 9.5 out of 10)!

We've only tried a few things so far but it's definitely better than say Chuy's IMHO (and I was a HUGE original fan of Chuy's back in the day when they only had a few locations in the Austin area; but since they went big, and the food quality went down, they are no longer on my favorite list).

Something I REALLY like about the salsa at Flores is that it tastes excellent/homemade and it isn't too hot. It's just right on the heat! Many places these days try to burn your tastebuds off with their salsa, instead of just giving you good salsa flavor! I'm sure for those people that like it super spicy, they have more spicy options/sauces for you (or just ask for some extra diced jalapeños, serranos, green chiles, etc.) to kick it up a notch and burn your insides out.

The beef fajitas are also pretty good (7 out of 10 & pretty lean/not too fatty), but I do like the ones better at places like Serrano's (chicken-10 and beef-9) and Lupe Tortilla (beef-9.5).

The 3 out of 5 on atmosphere is only because there were too many flies. I hope this review can bring attention to this fact and they'll resolve it soon, because we'll be frequenting this place...
