Extremely disappointing experience ā especially compared to other locations.
I called ahead to the Belmar Dickās Sporting Goods to ask if they had a steam machine for baseball gloves. I specifically asked if steaming would be free if I bought the glove in-store, and was told yes ā but no one mentioned it would actually cost $25. That lack of transparency was frustrating.
When I went to return a pair of defective $40 football gloves, the cashier asked me to identify the item myself on the receipt, which felt like they couldnāt be bothered to do the bare minimum.
Then I spoke with Ashton Morgan, the manager, and things took a turn for the worse. In front of my child, he referred to the glove I had had bought my son as ācheapā ā a completely unacceptable insult, especially in front of a kid who was excited to play his new season. He also made a smug comment about needing to charge me for using their $6,000 steam machine, even though I had just spent over $500 ā happily, I might add ā at the Colorado Mills location, thanks to their outstanding service.
Ashtonās tone was condescending and dismissive. He acted as if I was trying to get something for free and treated me more like a nuisance than a valued customer. To make it worse, he openly talked down about the Colorado Mills store, which was not only unprofessional but also ironic considering how poor my experience was at Belmar.
The attitude didnāt stop with him. All three employees I encountered were visibly annoyed, unhelpful, and disinterested. Itās clear that no one there is committed to doing their job or helping customers ā and the arrogance displayed by the entire team reflects the same condescending tone Ashton had with me.
This was one of the worst customer service experiences Iāve ever had. The insult in front of my kids about buying ācheapā gear was beyond out of line, and the lack of effort or care from the staff was just disappointing.
Iāll be taking my business back to Colorado Mills from now on. Belmar has a serious leadership problem and a culture that does not...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreĀ Ā Ā Read moreLongest wait in line ever and then the cashier, Tony, laughed at me because I would have to wait more from a missing label. I went to this Dick Sporting Goods last Friday before my camping trip to southern Colorado. I had my 5 year old daughter with me and it was past her bedtime. I waited in line 20 minutes even though there was only one person in front of me. There was another parent in line behind me who gave up on his purchases because it was taking so long. I wanted to leave as well, but I had $230 worth of camping supplies I was trying to buy, so I tried to be patient. The person in front of me was buying a single pair of shoes. Not sure why it took 20 minutes but the cashier appeared to be joking with the customer so perhaps they were friends. Then, when it was finally my turn, Tony laughed at us and told us it would be awhile longer because the lanterns we chose didn't have labels on them. He said, before contacting any other employees, that they were busy and it would be an unknown amount of time before they could get a price check. So I sent my husband back upstairs to do the price check himself. When he got upstairs he found the other employees relaxing and laughing, talking to each other, clearly not busy or doing anything work related. Meanwhile Tony, has still not apologized or shown any remorse for our experience. It wasn't until I told him I was going to post a review that he finally said sorry and looked like he felt bad. Because Tony didn't care about us as customers. Tony only cared about his own performance and potentially getting in trouble. Well Tony, you did a terrible job for us and treated us poorly and I hope you do get in trouble because you shouldn't have a job working with customers. You can't even ring up 2 customers in a half an hour's time? Wow, /slow clap. Get another job Tony. . You suck...
I go here often and I always end up spending more than Iād like. Never had much of an issue until recently. My husband and I get followed throughout the store so intensely itās like we have our own personal shopping buddy. One of the employees (who is a family member) even told me as soon as we walk in they send different employees to talk to us because they just KNOW we will steal. Never have me or my husband ever stolen anything and always buy. One time the manager even guarded the door as I went to pay. Itās so bizarre because weāve done nothing to give them that impression. The only thing I can think is we are young and of color. I donāt see them treating anyone but POC that way and although I hate to pull that card I know in my heart itās true. They were so fixated on us they missed someone actually stealing with a backpack. We donāt dress badly or look anything other than normal it just comes down to racial profiling at its finest. I tried to sympathize with the amount of theft they deal with but itās gone beyond being on guard at this point. My family member told me even after we paid they took our license plates down and watched the footage because the were so certain we stole. Itās quite pathetic that frequent shoppers get harassed like this when theyāve done nothing wrong. Next time Iām there because unfortunately there will be a next time Iām going to speak up because the harassment has been ridiculous. Normally I wouldnāt do this but my family member telling me this sent me over the edge. I tried to find an email to reach out to cooperate no response maybe this will get one but Iām not going to...
