It's a hybrid of 4 Mile House and Fiddler's Green. It's also known as Lakewood Heritage Center, owned, managed and operated by the City of Lakewood.
Tonight was especially fun because it was the annual 'Block Party." Two live bands played, a Santana cover band and Beatles tribute band, The Fab four, that was scheduled to be there tonight over a year ago. There vendor booths, information booths, game booths for the kids and plenty of somewhat fairly gently sloping grass to sit on. Lakewood attempts to do their share to keep recyclable and compostable items from going to the landfill. There were great volunteers to help sort what goes where. The reason this venue is called the Lakewood Heritage Center is because there is Lakewood historical Museum on the grounds. To top that off there are buildings that in part or in whole on the grounds represent Lakewoods past from the 1950s and before. These buildings also had great volunteers to point out the highlights of the interior and the corresponding furniture. The buildings consist of an old farmhouse, a one-room schoolhouse that is used also for special events. A hotel from West Colfax and a few other buildings each were from some location in Lakewood. Most of these were open tonight to have a look at and for some to reminisce. The beer garden was supplied by Green Mountain Beer 🍻 Company - GMBC. You could take your beer anywhere within the venue not limited to the beer garden itself. What would be a party, festival, a fun gathering of people without food trucks. Before or after the concert you can walk through the park on cement paths or maintained paths and equestrian trails. One last feature for the evening if you're not tired and if the weather cooperates there is always a retro movie from...

The moment you step onto the trails, you forget you're in the middle of a bustling city. It's a perfect, peaceful escape that feels worlds away.
The park is huge, with miles of beautifully maintained trails that wind around the gorgeous Kountze Lake and through natural grasslands. It's an incredible spot for bird watching—I saw herons, ducks, and beautiful red-winged blackbirds during my walk. Whether you want a paved path for an easy stroll or a dirt trail to feel more connected to nature, there's something for everyone. It's also incredibly dog-friendly, and a fantastic place to just wander and decompress.
What makes this park truly special is the adjacent Heritage Lakewood Belmar Park. It's not just a single building; there are fascinating museum exhibits both inside and outside among the historic structures, adding such a unique and interesting dimension to the visit. You can seamlessly blend a nature walk with a little trip back in time. Plus, in the summertime, the park comes alive with music during concerts at the beautiful amphitheater pavilion and stage.

One of my favorite aspects of the park is the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of Colorado's fall foliage. The vibrant hues of red, orange, and yellow create a stunning backdrop for my runs, making each mile a visual feast. The park's peaceful atmosphere, coupled with the breathtaking scenery, makes it an ideal spot to unwind and connect with nature.
