Gertrude Hawk Chocolates — Local services in Lancaster

I was hired back in September 2021. To work at Gertrude hawks chocolates as a sales supervisor . I was in charge of , closing and opening the store gate . Cleaning up the store . Organizing the store . Restocking and organizing the shelves . Finalizing transactions for the customers . Ringing out customers as they came in and bought there items . I also was in charge of dipping Rice Krispies, 3 marshmallows on a stick , caramel apples , potato chips , coconut macaroon cookies , into chocolate and putting toppings on them or drizzling more chocolate on top . As well as dipping frozen bananas , ice cream bars , and frozen cheese cakes in to the ice cream chocolate pots . I also was in charge of counting the drawer of the register . And counting the safe . And doing paperwork at the end of the night or the morning . I was encouraged to give a warm welcoming to the customers when they came in . And I was always kind and polite with the customers ! I even was given good reviews from them when I was working there . I unfortunately was terminated because I had a stress fracture in my foot . They claimed they couldn’t accommodate anything for me to do in the store with the restrictions I currently had . And the knee scooter I was on at the time was a safety hazard when it never was even the doctor I had wrote a doctors letter and said I am allowed to work . And I am not a safety risk . I can still work just at the register . And they still wouldn’t budge with me. They terminated me . And made it seem like i resignated although i never did . I was accepted with unemployment. Unemployment also agreed I was descriminated against by them .i was very hurt because I loved working there and loved the customers ! It was a fun job and I...

Went in here on Saturday 10-30-2021 to but some chocolate, which were in our hand. After already recieving an unprompted glare for an older woman we stood near the register in line. A man, woman and cashier were talking about politics, conspiracy theories and other wild things, loudly and aggressively. We were furious as we just wanted some chocolate. I get you can't control your customers but check your employees. Never...

Always a delightful experience here. Birthday gift each year draws me back, the staff are wonderful, the store is clean, and the products are displayed to attract you to buy more. The chocolate is tasty too! I like that they carry some old time candy too. Remember you pay for what you get and enjoy the offered goodies here once in awhile. Everyone deserves to treat themselves....
