THIS IS THE WORST POST SECONDARY SCHOOL IN THIS AREA. DO NOT GO. I went here for my medical assisting license, I started in August and didn’t receive any scrub (uniform) until October. They allow any one into any program regardless of if they’ll be successful in the medical field or after they leave campus. This includes people with violent criminal records, charges, and those with servere violent mental diseases/disorders. The school has NO SECURITY onsite protecting the students or staff members. While in class one day, one of the students held a classroom filled with students at KNIFE point and threatened to KILL us. Administrators waited to call the police and they when they got there no one placed any reports and the school sent the police away AND SAID IT WAS FALSE ALARM. THE PRESIDENT DR. SHADOW released nothing regarding the situation, or a school issued apology. And didn’t have any conversations with the staff or students about what occurred or even acknowledged the situation. ITS DISGUSTING. Mind you after this situation, this man had been seen on multiple occasions back on campus. DR.SHADOW only cares about numbers; The only time you will see this lady if she’s showing investors around. And she will act like she is so involved/committed in this school community when in reality she is always NOWHERE TO BE FOUND. THE MEDICAL ASSISTING PROGRAM DIRECTOR is Ms. Landrom and she is one of the worst teachers i’ve had in my overall years of schooling. She is ignorant and rude. She doesn’t grade assignments and will wait until the last couple weeks to start submitting grades for her term. She talks to her students any kind of way. She feel she can talk to you with derogatory language and its justified because she is the teacher/program director. She is all around UNPROFESSIONAL. And shines an overall bad light on Fortis. NOT EVERYONE IN FORTIS IS BAD ie Ms. Walker and Ms. Smith are to wonderful kind ladies who truly took their time and really cared about my future and knowledge as whole. But as for the president DR. SHADOW and the program director MS. LANDROM; THE SCHOOL WILL NOT BE DIFFERENT AND THERE WONT BE A CHANGE UNTIL...
Read moreSo, I wanted to go back to school as an elder statesman and I am more than pleasantly surprised on how well the instructors do in teaching and how thorough they really are. I have NEVER written a review in my life, but as I'm reading through these remarks, I had to put my positive experience in writing and say something. It has been such a pleasant surprise going to school here. The instructors truly care all the students, I've even seen instructor's buy several students lunch because they didn't have any cash to buy it for themselves. You are going to find people that complain about everything and anything, no program is perfect, but these are really good programs at Fortis College. You are going to get out of this program, what you put into your education and training. The instructors are all here to help you through this process and (I've seen it with my own two eyes) will do whatever they can to make sure you're learning and getting through these classes. They are very knowledgeable and thorough as well. The Staff are very supportive and bend over backwards to assist any student and their families. Dr. Shadow is ALWAYS available and has an open-door policy so, if you have a dilemma, she is always more than willing to help, she is amazing. You will get out of it what you put into it. If you are coming here to truly learn than you will learn. If you're coming here to be lazy and complain about everything, well than you're wasting a valuable opportunity to learn and build a great foundation and an introduction into the medical field. I spent many years in the military, and I can honestly say these are some of the most talented instructors I've been exposed to. If you focus, come to school ready to learn, and have a positive metal attitude you will do fine. This is about YOUR education and future; make it a positive experience and you will...
Read moreIf I could give the school a negative 🌟 I would. I paid to take the Hesi test in February 2025. The test was supposed to be taken on May 2, 2025. I made sure I submitted all the documents required in order to be considered for the Dental Hygiene Program. I tried to confirm that everything was received I never received any replies through email nor calls after leaving voice-mails. The day I showed up to take the Hesi test most of the computers were not functioning properly. They moved me and many others around to different computers trying to see if they worked in order to take the test. We were about 45min in the testing time when I asked Mr. David if I could speak to him outside. I asked if they could provide my money back for the test. He called Mark and they confirmed they could. They had me waiting in the lobby and after waiting for a while the head of the school spoke to me and told me I would be getting a refund. Then I was taken to the school accountant which just told me it would be refunded to the card I paid with within 7 to 10 days. It's currently July 27, 2025 and I have called the school, left voicemails, and emailed them numerous times and till this day I have not received the refund or heard back from anyone. ** Be very careful with this school they are very unprofessional. When I had applied a few years ago when Mrs Williams was there it was more organized and the testing center computers actually...
