Staples — Local services in Largo

As a business owner, I frequent this Staples location often—specifically the printing services department—as I occasionally need high-quality prints on short notice. Unfortunately, my experience with one particular employee in that department has been consistently disappointing. On multiple separate visits, I’ve approached her with simple questions or requests, only to be met with dismissiveness, a poor attitude, and a lack of willingness to help. There’s always an excuse—she can’t, won’t, or doesn’t know how—and the interaction never feels solution-focused.

Today was another example. I needed just four color pages printed, and although I usually use the self-service machines, I’ve learned from previous visits that they often produce streaky, low-quality color prints. In those cases, employees have helped by printing the documents from behind the counter for better quality. When I saw that the same employee was working today, I already expected resistance but waited a few minutes to see if another staff member might assist. No one else became available, so I approached her. As expected, I was told—again with attitude—that she was “too busy,” even though the area was empty and the request would have taken less than three minutes. I had the print code ready and explained the issue with the machines, yet there was no willingness to assist.

In the end, I attempted to print the documents myself, spending unnecessary time and money trying different printers, only to get the same streaky results.

Let me be clear—I’m not someone who expects special treatment or lacks the ability to use the equipment. I fully respect the staff’s time and responsibilities. But when the machines don’t function properly and a customer is simply asking for a small favor that falls well within the scope of service, there should be a basic level of professionalism and customer care.

Inside the store feels bleak, no one working in here has ever offered me assistance when I’ve been inside looking for something. My last visit was to curbside pickup an order placed online and it didn’t go well, first I waited forever outside for assistance when I finally did get help it was only to inform me that they were out of stock of what I ordered- I had received an email that my order was ready for pickup and drove all the way here sat in the car for half an hour waiting for someone to deliver my order to my car only to be told they didn’t have it. Someone could have contacted me to let me know that so I didn’t waste my time, even if they would’ve come out immediately to let me know there was an issue with my order it would have been better than letting me sit there forever wasting my gas. I ended up going to Best Buy and had zero issues. I usually only use Staples website rather than going in store because I’ve never had an exceptional visit in store. It’s definitely not my first choice when I need office supplies but I don’t buy in bulk or for a large office, so it may function better for that type...

Awful Insurance return. My 25+ history of tech equipment has come to an end--and I love Staples, my neighborhood store and friendly people. Why would I insure a printer if I am completely responsible for packing and sending back a behemoth "all in one" printer. I don't save all of the boxes I might have accumulated from packaging so I am responsible for packing! And lugging around a large printer...! I loved my neighborhood Staples, bought my paper and supplies, business cards etc. Best Buy will not make me have to lug my printer to a UPS office, buy a box and have them pack up printer. Why would I do that? I just bought my new all in one and it will break as they have after 14 to 16 months (as I understand ink jets do) and I will have to buy a new printer.....unfortunate but after that, with insurance I won't have a return delay, I will get credit and be able to get a new printer.
