I have had extremely mixed experiences with UNLV school of Dental Medicne .. Their staff was kind enough during an "emergency extraction" yet were quick to pull teeth, in my humble opinion more than necessary & the asian doc was extremely cross w/ me for questioning him when in regards to my mouth & teeth.
Like too many dentists that dont show proper respect to others was actually sadistic with his methods and lack of empathy; In the end He/ thry tried to charge me additional for the "consult" to oull more than less. People have to live with how u leave them, jaws become overworked and replacement teeth, etc are a rediculous cost in the US, You All should do better by your patients- then again rude, short, capitalists doc's who work at UNLV ready to retire, I guess I shouldn't be surprised.
The students in training were kind and tried to look out for me but of course had trouble removing teeth.
I had to change my insurance to them to do the extraction then called to schedule a cleaning and they said to call in September (its 1st week of July now) to schedule a 3 step screening; just to see, "If" they can even see or treat me?
Lastly the woman that answered was extremely rude, hostile & short statement of the process! I had a single question, let alone tried to better understand her crass, exasperated and absolutely inhumane responses from the beginning- I hope your treated better by medical professionals than you treat people over the phone! Unacceptable. Note* I brush 3 times a day and have a periodontal issue otherwise a clean mouth however UNLV, your system creates a lack of availability for people to see docs regularly and is horrid at best. I've been fighting for regular cleanings for 20 years as an American, free lance worker with out hi dollar insurance. Everyone that comes here is in the same boat, your clinic...

Read moreIt took me months to get an appointment with UNLV dental and when I did I was told it could take several appointments and months to do everything, which I completely expected and was okay with. My first appointment went well and was very short- just to get my history and whatnot. I was told from the very beginning that the students rely on patients to be on time and not cancel appointments since their grade and graduation depend on it. I kept all of my appointments as I said I would, but I have now been cancelled on by three separate students! The first one to cancel on me cancelled less than 12 hours in advance, after I had already asked for that day off. Her reasoning was that she already had a 'barely passing grade and did not want to mess it up by performing poorly with me'. That is completely unacceptable! The second one cancelled on me 24 hours in advance which was at least a little more notice. The third one cancelled about 18 hours in advance due to an 'unexpected emergency'. That may be true, but I will assume it is a similar situation to what already happened the first time. I have spent several months and several appointments to basically have them get my history and take impressions. Now I'm out that money, those days off work, and I have nothing to show for it!! IF PATIENTS ARE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THE APPOINTMENT, THE STUDENTS NEED TO...
