Justine Hair Braiding — Local services in Laurel

Unfortunately, I went into this shop for services on 1/13/15....sorry for the late review. I was super excited about getting the Crotchet Braids. The owner contacted me prior and I even sent her a picture showing the exact simply style I wanted and she reassured me I could get it. I will try to keep this brief. Like most ladies I am picky about my hair and willing to pay any amount. I'm not writing this out of out of lies or spite. I just want to tell my experience to maybe improve the shop or help someone else. Anyway upon my arrival, my hair was washed. I showed the stylist the picture and she also agreed the style would be achieved. About two cornrows in, I noticed that there were roaches crawling. I then noticed that they were everywhere! The owner explained it was the landlord's fault. I had to be at work at 730 so I sucked it up and did not fly out of there. It was disgusting and unprofessional. Yes I could have left but I was not going to work looking crazy. The style was finished and I explained it did not look like the picture. I was so frustrated, tired, and disgusted, plus the owner had taken my payment prior to leaving. I decided to let her know the next day that I was not satisfied. The stylist then asked me for a ride home....in which I was not going to say no, obviously I'm soft. Dropped her off. Contacted the owner with a picture of my hair and the style. No response. I will personally never go back because I was not satisfied with the services, and the disgusting roaches! That's the short version of my story. Good Luck and this is my experience. I will start by saying I have never had such a horrible braid job in my life. I went to this place after reading reviews I am the one that rely on reviews before making a decision. Well this time the reviews let me down.

Anyway I got my hair braided on a Sunday and let me tell you by Monday braids starting falling out by the bunch. I went out of town for the weekend and let’s just say I wake up braids in bed. I take a shower braid on floor. I’m just relaxing on sofa, get off sofa another lost braid. I got micro singles. The loop at the root was large enough to tie around my neck. Braids not tight at all. The ends was not tied off properly. By the time I returned to Maryland I had lost 15 braids. I call the shop owner who was nice. She said to go back in to the shop to have them corrected. She was out of town. I went in the shop and began to inform the braider that was there my situation she began laughing. They then began to redo the ones that had come out and the ones they visibly saw that was loose. Let me tell you three weeks later I’m still losing braids. I wanted them to redo all the braids not just the ones that were visibly loose. My entire head need a redo. Not to mention they used large amounts of hair in one tiny braid. My braids are only three weeks old and they look as if I have had them for months. Let’s just say I will never return to this shop and I don’t think anyone should go. I was initially going to write a 1 STAR review however after having the situation handled appropriately with Justine, I changed it to 4 stars. Basically, I requested a style that I have had once before (however at that time my hair was long and semi straight from being heat trained). I recently did a big chop and now have a short Afro. So as someone who has always had long hair and who doesn’t get braids often, I had no idea that style would not work. I asked the stylist if she could do this style and even asked her if she was sure the particular hair would hold up, she said YES. It wasn’t until more than half of my hair was done (about 3 hours in) that she showed me a piece of the front and said my hair is coming out a bit. Granted the front didn’t look too bad. CHILE when I got home and started looking at the back, it was a mess. Even my husband commented on how bad it looked and he never says anything about my hair. I was so sad as I’m supposed to leave for vacation in 2 weeks and I knew this style wouldn’t last longer than a week. I called Justine the next day and she agreed to have me come back to redo to a style that better suits my hair texture and length.
