Somewhere in 2005 or 2008, my daughter Katrina was attending MLK middle school in Beltsville, MD. There was a competition-essay about what it means to be an American. Believe it or not, my daughter won the competition. There were prices to go with the competition. She won $100, first price! There was a ceremony that took place at the Legion 60. However, that day a middle-aged white woman, who was one of the leaders of the competition ceremony, said that my daughter's price would be mailed to us. They never did send the price money to us. A month later, I went to talk to her, she gave me $50 cash to hold on to it, and she said she would see why her team didn't mailed our price money. Am still waiting for her to call me back!
