âď¸âď¸ 2 out of 5 stars
Overall, it was a semi-good experience this year. The ride workers were all very friendly, and when we had a hiccup during the night, everyone jumped in quickly to help â especially the Lawrence County Sheriffâs Department. Two very kind officers went above and beyond, handling the situation immediately and with real professionalism.
That said, I can only give two stars because of the extreme prices and lack of improvements. None of the rides have changed or been updated in 10â20 years, yet prices have climbed to the point that itâs honestly unrealistic for an average family to attend anymore.
Hereâs what one night at the fair cost us:
4 ride armbands: $45 each = $180
Admission: $12 per adult, $8 per child = $32
Parking: $15
Food: 4 slices of pizza ($5 each = $20), 2 lemonades ($15 each = $30), and 2 small cotton candies ($10 each = $20)
Thatâs a total of $277 for just one evening â and thatâs without me even riding or eating much myself. For that price, we couldâve easily gone to a full amusement park with better rides, cleaner facilities, and more value for the money.
The biggest disappointment, though, was the state of the bathrooms. There was only one set open, and the line was over 30 minutes long. When we finally got inside, it was genuinely awful â floors covered in urine, stalls splattered with feces, trash cans overflowing, and not a single working soap dispenser. Most stalls didnât have toilet paper, and several doors were broken to the point that women had to hold them shut for each other. It was unsanitary and unacceptable, especially for a family event.
The fair has a great staff and a lot of community potential, but between the skyrocketing costs and the total lack of cleanliness, the experience just isnât worth it anymore. I really hope next year brings more reasonable pricing and better maintenance â because families shouldnât have to choose between having fun and being able to afford it. I would also like to see improvements in the rides and maybe something a bit different than the same old rides every year for the price. On the upside.. the ground wasn't so mushy you couldn't walk without needing rain boots this year, so that is a plus. Again all in all we had a great time but next year I will definitely be purchasing a child leash and bringing snacks and drinks, a thing of baby wipes (for the restroom) and antibacterial wipes/hand sanitizer (for the lack of soap) in a backpack that's...
Read moreA family member bought me a ticket to the concert at the fair this year. We were supposed to see the Marshall Tucker Band. It was raining cats & dogs right at time for the concert to begin & instead of putting the band on stage in front of the grand stands so that the crowd of fans could be in under a shelter to be dry the rotary club decided to have the concert out in the middle of the wide open parking lot & everyone who showed up got completely soaked! We were also informed that we weren't even allowed to use our own umbrellas! Worst experience EVER! Most people who purchased tickets just lost their money because they didn't come at all and we ended up leaving before the band even got on stage because the concert was scheduled to start at 7pm sharp but the opening act didn't get on stage until almost 7:45 and at 8:45 pm the Marshall Tucker Band still wasn't on stage so we left. I feel like the rotary club knew we had rain coming & they could have made adjustments & planned accordingly to make this a better experience for everyone but I guess they don't care if everyone's money was wasted. The old band got paid so that's all...
Read moreIf i could give this fair a zero i would! I have never been to a fair that is so over priced and over crowded in my life!!! Yea they had great rides but we didnt get to ride any because there were literally over a hundred people in each line and only got to ride 2 rides and we were there from 4 to 10! And the wrist bands total rip off, $25 a piece and we are a family of five! I loved that they had a bible giveaway and a dunking booth for charity and those were the only worth while things in the whole place! And also there was a guy that did a henna tattoo booth for very cheap and he is super talented and polite! He drew everything freehanded and they were gorgeous! He didnt hike up his prices like most of the other booths and it was worth every penny! But we will not be going back, we had to pay to park and pay to get in and instead of them giving their patrons a break they charged the most ive ever seen for arm bands, even the mid south fair is cheaper then that and they are 4 times the size! Two...
