Carolina Comics is niche, to say the least, but it is the perfection of niche. It is a comic book store, yes… but it is also SO much more. If you want Marvel, they got it. DC fan? Too easy. But you want manga, you want figurines, cards, collectibles, funkopops, tabletop games, GALACTIC WAR!!!! Carolina Comic has got you covered. They are so much more than JUST a comic book store. This little local business is a hidden gem of a quickly disappearing pastime, a time when we sat down across from one another in a kitchen or living room as a family or group of friends and enjoyed each other’s company… AS THE ROOM FELL INTO THE ANARCHY AND RIVALRY THAT WAS MONOPOLY!!! But seriously, besides everything material this business has to offer, what makes it special is the comradery that is given freely as soon as you walk through the door. The employees are warm, genuine, and actually versed in the wares they offer. But they are more than employees; they are fellow gamers, fans, and indulgers of the comic book lifestyle. This brings me to my next point… the game room!!! You want to meet up for a round of DnD? You want to get together and settle your differences on the Warhammer 40k battlefield? Miss actual GOOD Star Wars battles (I am biased)? You can do that here… FOR FREE!!! Schedule a time, bring in your armies, supply your friends… BOOM, you have a game night. This is a store that doesn’t sell a lifestyle as much as lets you enjoy a lifestyle. There is so much on offer here, you just have to walk in and take a look for yourself. Trust me, you won’t regret it.
Did I mention they sell Clackity Clackities… Dice… Yeah, they sell...
Read moreCarolina Comics is a mom-and-pop comic shop who are more than willing to build a rapport with their customers. I've been going to them every month or so whenever I need another book for D&D or another paint color for my Warhammer models, and they often give me discount prices for that regularity. If you know you want something specific and they dont have it on the shelves, they will special order it for you and call you when it arrives. They have a huge wall full of tabletop games and, as the name implies, the largest collection of comics I know of in Lawton, though I personally do not have as much interest in those so I haven't looked elsewhere for them. One thing to note is their 50-cent bin, which is a set of comic boxes full of old editions and duplicates that they sell for 50 cents each. They even host events for various games. The only downside to this hobby shop is that they do not support trading card games such as Magic the Gathering as much as they could because they have a mutual agreement with Tom's Card Kingdom to avoid competing with each other. That being said, they do still have a small section of cards sleeves and boxes near the register. I cant support this business enough, and I hope that if you go visit them, you love them as...
Read moreFirst off their games were overpriced each by about 10-30 dollars each. Got the dark souls board game first it had an issue with all German cards. They were nice enough to be able to switch out the cards for us. Was trying to go back to get another expansion for the board game. Again overpriced compared to other places we looked but trying to support the local business. I called because it was going to be close to them closing, so I was trying to see if they would be able to have the item ready since we knew exactly what we wanted. Got told "look man we've been here all day we close at 7." I understand that you close at a specific time but maybe for a returning customer you could do them a solid and stay open for maybe 5 min to make it since we too have to work. Being employed in the service industry that's how you get lifelong customers. Now I'll just go to Amazon and buy it cheaper and won't have to leave the house. And people wonder why they...
