This is mine and my ohana (family) of 5 favorite places to eat when we're in the mood for some authentic Mexican food. Unfortunately, this and Ted's are the only mexican style restaurants in town that don't offer complimentary queso with the salsa and chips upon arrival. Needless to say, we have only dined at Ted's maybe three times in the past 10-15 yrs. Here, the option is to purchase the queso, and it starts at $9.99, so that's definitely something to keep in mind before dining. One of the appeals when it comes to going to a Mexican style restaurant for our family especially is free chips, salsa, and queso. With that said, my husband and I take advantage of the $7 Sunday frozen fruit margarita specials and the $5 House Margarita Mondays. Always nice sized, delicious and well worth ordering everytime. For a starter, I always order the Mexican shrimp cocktail and occasionally a house guacamole. The size and amount of shrimp and avocado they provide in the shrimp cocktail are nearly perfect. The guac is by far the tastiest I've had to date. Unfortunately, the only downfall for me personally is that I need more chunks of fresh avocados in the cocktail and a much bigger bowl of the guac. For our main meals, Z Hubby regularly orders an El Grand Molcajete. It's served in a lava rock style bowl, which comes out hot and sizzling to the table. The amount of meats, large shrimp and mixture of onions, bell peppers, Mexican cheese, and even a lil cactus was a nice touch. The only complaint again is that this item only comes with 3 warm tortillas and one small plate of rice and refried beans together. It's definitely big enough to serve two adults, and it would be nice to offer it w/ a double side and tortilla option. Would like to see the option to double the sides and amount of tortillas in the very near future even for a lil' upcharge. Our young adult sons order the Carne Asada Y Camarones. It is absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection, and I'm not a steak kine of girl. However, this dish is super flavorful and so well executed each time. All in all our family really enjoys this restaurant and the amazing food and drinks they offer. We always get the same one server/ bartender (possibly owner or management) that always takes care of me and my entire family every time we visit. We have become his regulars at this point. He offers such a great attitude and customer care service each and every time. I only wish I could remember his name. We are always so grateful for his attentiveness. Other than the amazing quality and quantity of the food, he is one of the reasons we choose to dine at La Grand Cantina in the Lawton...

Everything was “extra” including extra salsa. The food was terrible this time. My son ordered a kids cheeseburger and it was burnt with a crusty piece of cheese. The corn tortilla for my tacos was so crumbly it fell apart and they still only use one tortilla which just made a mess. The portions for the price are super small and there’s no way the beans are not canned. We will most definitely not be back
Service was great which is rare in Lawton. Food was ok. Nothing to write home about. Portions were really small, my portions were equal to my children’s plates. Rice was good but beans were not. I had tacos and they were good, not the best but not the worst. It only had one corn tortilla on them which I’ve never really seen before, most places use two because they fall apart easily. Overall, food was a little bland and VERY overpriced for what you get. I’m from socal and have had ALOT of street tacos with more food, better taste for much much cheaper. I don’t regret going here but it’s not necessarily somewhere I’d come back. I do love that’s it actual Mexican food and not more texmex which is...
Read moreOverall- not good/disappointing. Wouldn’t recommend.
Bothersome that they weren’t prepared with the liquor license prior to opening.
Service was slower than expected even though the business wasn’t that busy.
Had the ground beef chimichanga with rice and beans. Also ordered a cheese chille rellano.
Chimichanga was good. Rice was good. Beans tasted terrible. The flavor was similar to mold and very strong.
Somehow the chille rellano was completely flavorless. There were absolutely zero spices in the batter or filling.
They also charged an “up charge” for subbing fries for rice and beans even though the two sides were of equal price on their menu. Not to mention up-charge just means they charged for the side of fries and the full price of the meal as if it had the original sides.
There is a fee charged for using a debit card that is disguised as a cash discount.
Didn’t apply to our group but their menu made it clear there is a charge if a member of the party doesn’t order at...
