Tried SOB this evening. The outside looks nice and modern. The inside was clean, well lit, large windows though a bit sparse and industrial looking. Lots of grays and blacke with picnic style wood benches. The outside looked nice but I didn't take a closer look, just through the window. There's also a bar with bar stools which is where I sat. I sampled a couple of their beers, of which, you're only allowed four. Ended up picking the Oatmeal Vanilla Stout which I enjoyed. Ordered fried cheese curds as an appetizer and then the 2 meat option which comes with 2 sides. Now at every barbecue joint I have a standard two part order: burnt ends & pieces and pulled pork. Burnt ends is not an option here but pulled pork is... when they have it. No worries I'll go with the sausage of which they have two house varieties... when they're not out. They did say that they try to let everything run out by Sunday it's just so happened to be the day I went! So, I was reduced down to smoked or grilled chicken, ribs, or brisket. I went with brisket and smoked chicken. Brisket is $3 extra right off the bat. Might be hard to tell in the picture but there is not much brisket there. I was kind of let down by the fact that I was paying three extra bucks for what amounted to probably four tablespoons of chunked up brisket. That said, the brisket was good! Good smoke flavor, nice and juicy, and paired well with the two types of barbecue sauce. I had two types of barbecue sauce the original and the spicy. The spicy was good, but could have been a little bit spicier but that's just me because I like the Heat. The original was also tasty and not overly sweet (something that's easy to do in barbecue sauce.) The pasta salad was more of a Italian pasta salad which is actually a kind I prefer. It was good but I probably would added some more garlic and some Parmesan to garnish it. Also didn't get much of that in my opinion. The mac & cheese was easily the best part and I would say was the right amount. I got a slice of bread, and I don't know if it's just a me thing, but I usually prefer toast. And Texas toast preferred. Plain white bread is...well... plain. The cheese curds were okay if you had fried cheese curds before things are about on par with that. I very much enjoyed the Oatmeal Vanilla Stout and got 10 oz of it and then I also got the 10 oz Thin Soldier which is a lighter beer that I also enjoyed very crisp and refreshing. So, two 10 oz beers, two meat option with two sides and the grand total for that was a little over $44. Bit pricey in my opinion. Most everything I had I really enjoyed and would probably go back just so I could taste the pulled pork and sausage but at those prices it's going to be a special occasion only type thing. The bartender/service was fast and friendly and the speed that my order came out was also pretty quick. So I'm going to give them a solid 3.5 stars until I can go back and see what the rest of the week taste like. But yelp doesn't do halves so...
Read moreThis place is more of a hang out and have some beer type of place. Not really a place for dinner. The building is full of picnic tables with benches. Not the most comfortable seating. You have to find a menu on the tables to figure out what they have to offer. Then, when you are ready, you have to go up to the bar and order. When your order is complete, they will text you and you have to get up a retrieve the food yourself from the back hallway area near the bathroom. Minimum customer employee interaction, they really shouldnt be asking for a tip at the kiosk when you place an order. We are from out of town and visit the area once a year for a business trip. Most likely will not add this as our regular go to...
Read moreLiterally the best brisket I’ve ever had. The owners and staff are super friendly and chill. The pet friendly patio offers ( my favorite) Jenga as well as corn hole and other fun games. The beer is on point and if you’re not a beer person, they have wine. 🍷 Awesome place to grab lunch or dinner with friends, family or to have work...
