T.J. Maxx — Local services in Lawton

I've always loved shopping here but since the pandemic started, I haven't felt safe shopping anywhere.

TJ Maxx has the perfect prices, the selection of merchandise is great, the staff are so helpful and friendly, and it is always clean, well stocked, neat in appearance. It feels more like a high-end retail store than a bargain shopping place.

Today at the end of July 2020 with all that has taken place in not just this city but the world with the pandemic and our city having a regulation put in place with having to wear a mask in public, it was wonderful to shop here again. Since this whole thing started, I haven't really felt like shopping. I only went out for the necessities like food and cleaning things because I didn't want to risk exposure. I stayed in my house and didn't watch the news because it was just so heartbreaking. But on a trip to another store I learned about the policy and the first place I wanted to go for a shopping trip with my daughter was here.

As always everything was as I described before but one thing that was more amazing and awesome to see was all of the extra care and efforts they have in place to keep everyone safe is someone standing at the door counting the people in the store, making sure they had a mask on before entering and reminding them that they must wear it the entire time they were in the store and if they didn't have a mask, they gave them one, (even all of the staff was wearing masks properly, covering the nose and mouth), someone was cleaning and sanitizing every shopping cart, there was staff cleaning and wiping down shelves throughout the store and as I checked out, the cashier's wear meticulously wiping the counter and the card reader after every customer! It was a great shopping experience. It felt safe for me and my daughter who both have MAS (Multiple Autoimmune Syndrome) which just means we have weak autoimmune systems because we have Lupus which triggered other autoimmune issues like fibromyalgia, IVA and Antiphospholipid antibody syndrome. We're thankful to TJ Maxx and every store that's adhering to the regulation, the mayor or governor.. whoever implemented it and to every person who complies. People like us are who you're doing it for. It shows that this is a store that cares about the business it's in with how well kept the store always is but also, today showed how much they care about the people who come in to shop. There have been occasions where popular sizes or specific items were not in stock, leading to a somewhat limited selection. It would be beneficial if the store could work on maintaining more consistent inventory levels to meet the demands of its customers.

Additionally, the overall organization of the men's clothing section could use some attention. Sometimes, the racks and shelves appear cluttered or disorganized, making it a bit challenging to browse through the merchandise comfortably. A tidier and more streamlined presentation would greatly enhance the shopping experience.

I’m writing to express concern about a recent issue involving the improper denial of our DAV (Disabled American Veteran) Household Tax Exemption. On Thursday, June 5, we attempted to use our tax-exempt card and were told it could not be accepted. The reason given was that the household member’s phone number and address did not match what was on file—requirements that do not reflect the actual policy for DAV Household cards.

It appears that employees are not receiving adequate training on tax-exempt protocols, particularly when multiple agencies issue cards with differing procedures and eligibility rules.
