CarTunes — Local services in Layton

Update - 08/18: I'm pretty bummed to be posting this, as I'd always considered Car Tunes to be the last "safe haven" in automotive work. I've learned over the years that I can't trust anyone to work on my vehicles, as everyone is too caught up in quantity to deliver on quality. For two years now, this is the only shop that I've ever allowed to do anything other than diagnostic work on my vehicles.

Unfortunately, the last two times I've been in, the fit and finish has been too dodgy. There were trim screws and tree clips missing after my door speakers were installed. They let me kmow this was andan issue, and that they didn't have any on hand, so I wrote it off assuming that they were just running low on what I'd consider to be basic essential install gear.

I took the car in again a few months later to get the dash speakers done, and while they sound great, I now have a loose front dash cowl, which mates up to now also loose a-pillar trim on both sides. Not only does this make it look shoddy, as my dash visibly wobbles on bumpy roads, but now there's a rattle that effectively makes the speakers seem a bit blown out anyhow.

I'm more than capable of self-installing all this stuff, but it was nice to have a place I could turn to when my plate was a bit too full to fit it in myself. Unfortunately, this is no longer the case for me here. If I have to check over all the work that's been done and remove all the panels to do so, then there's really no point in me paying an installer to do the job in the first place. This is why I no longer use shop mechanics, and sadly will likely no longer be using audio install shops.

I've reduced my rating to three stars. I almost went with two because I'm extremely disappointed, but for the sake of fairness I left the third, as they are quick and not heavy on the upsell. If you don't know how to do the work yourself, and don't mind it being done by a hurried hand, they're still a decent option.

Original Review - 2015'ish: Amazing. I went in with pretty low expectations, as I've grown to hate audio stores. These guys have renewed my faith and then some! I was shopping for a Bluetooth radio and found one here for a better-than-walmart price, i was going to install myself, but the install was so cheap (and well done, in retrospect) that I threw that on as well.

Everything was first rate, my deck no longer flops around in my dash, they even glued back some of the trim that was broken before I went in, and the Bluetooth mic was run up the a-pillar beautifully.

The icing on the cake? My subs and amps were previously tuned for the old owners dubstep style music, which didn't work at all for my metal. These guys tuned my subs and amps that I didn't even get from or have installed by them, with me in the truck, playing my music, for no additional cost.

My truck sounds better than it ever has, and it only set me back the cost of a mid-range head unit.

They sell quality equipment at ok prices but the install they did on my truck was horrible, when i first went to pick it up the stereo worked but when i went to drive away it quit ,they found a wire shorting out on my window when it rolled down ,I got back home and noticed almost all the door panel clips were broken , a week later my window quit working , it was a short in the loom where they sliced some wires , the dash panel is busted and is obsolete , i cant buy one. A couple weeks later the amp went out , instead of taking one off the shelf and replacing it, i had to wait 2 months for it to be sent off for a repair , and now my door speakers are not working . next time i will have one of my shop employees do the install .So what can you do for me i already replaced the window regulator fixed the cut wires replaced all the broken door pins , i cant find a dashboard , but my door speakers still dont work as for a 2 year old warranty on the amp i called and spoke to Joel about it and told him i would get it in when i could , A friend of mine knows one of the employees there and called me from your layton shop and he was told everything that happened to my truck he didnt seem to care so i left it at that , so what will you...
