I'm so glad this place was recommended to us! We had dinner here one night on our work trip and it was fantastic.
The facility is massive and there's two sides. Rooster's is the brewery on the right, and the left (The Coop) appears to be an event hall of some kind, also run by Rooster's. Right when you enter the main lobby you can tell a lot of money and effort was put into this place. Everything is so clean and well thought out.
The restaurant has a great vibe that's sort of a modern farmhouse fusion. It works! There's a cool little retail shop with tons of fun items and to-go cans. We sat at a table near the bar and our waitress approached. I'm not exaggerating when I say she may be the best waitress I've ever had in my life. Her name was Nori and she immediately put everyone in an amazing mood with her genuine positive personality. She was the best!
I ordered the ribeye and it was very good, but the beer was really what shined in my opinion (besides the OUTSTANDING waitress...did I mention her already?). I got a flight of 5 and I was so impressed with every beer. The Black Widow Amber was a stand out favorite, which is pretty insane since Amber ales tend to be simple underwhelming starter beers. This thing has flavor! It's a dark malty complex beer and I absolutely loved it! The Diamondback Copper was also fantastic, as was the Hibiscus Sour, the O Town Brown, and the Chocolate Stout. Every one was a hit! I took several home that I didn't get a chance to try and I'm pretty psyched about it. I also got one of the coolest brewery shirts I've ever purchased (I buy a lot of them too).
There are a lot of breweries in the SLC/Layton/Ogden area, and I've been to several. If we're strictly talking about beer quality, Rooster's is at the top of the list, as far as I'm concerned. And if you happen to get Nori as your server, you just hit the jackpot! Did I mention how incredible she is? This place is an easy 5 stars!
Pro Tip: Flights are 4 beers, but you can get literally any number of flight sized beers...
Read moreNot good. Maybe it was the fact that we had a lot of people in our group. But, my wife's food was cold and bland, and mine was cold and so incredibly spicy that I couldn't eat it. We first ordered the naughty fries... they were good, but overall just fries with a few dipping sauces. They were the best part of the meal. I ordered the jambalaya. It was cold when it got to me. The seafood, what little there was, was old and rubbery and it was clear they had been cooked a while ago. The "spicy sauce" as it was referred to in the menu was so incredibly spicy that nothing else could be tasted-- it tasted like a lot of cayenne pepper mixed in water without anything else... and I'm a fan of spicy food. It tasted nothing like jambalaya. Most of that plate was left uneaten. The mushroom soup I got with it was good... just cold. My wife got the chicken milano and a salad. The salad was OK, but not much to say about a side salad no matter where you go. The chicken breading was simply a floury breading without any seasoning that could easily be made at home. The broccoli it came with was cold and had no seasoning-- no salt, no pepper, no butter... just steamed broccoli. The slices of bread-- stale. The mashed potatoes also lacked any seasoning. Our friends had similar experiences with their meals. I'm not one to send things back, but I should have. Dessert was a type of pie I can't remember (friend's ordered it as I was too busy trying to put out the fire in my mouth) that was still frozen in the middle. The prices here would demand a higher level of quality. There are plenty of restaurants in the area that server better food for less cost. On the plus side, the waiting staff was really nice...
Read moreTo preface this review we attend the Ogden roosters frequently and we adore the food served at this restaraunt. We usually always get great service every time we go. Unfortunately this last time going I was really unimpressed with the service we got. My husband ordered the ravioli dish and had asked for no vegetables. When the dish came out it had been prepared normally with all the vegetables. My husband is pretty bashful so I had brought up to the server very nicely when she returned that there must have been a mix up with the food. I had expected the server to rectify the situation by offering to get a new order made(I knew my husband would not eat it with the vegetables in it). Instead the server actually argued back to me claiming my husband had only asked for “no mushrooms”. This is false, I overheard the whole interaction and there were actually mushrooms in the dish that came out regardless if that’s what she wanted to claim he said? I did not want to argue so i asked for a plate so he could pick all the veggies off. I don’t usually write negative reviews but I was really unimpressed that she did not handle that with a better customer service outlook. To give the server the benefit of the doubt, I don’t know if this is company protocol? Also side note: I witnessed another server completely reprimand our server in front of the customers, which is completely unprofessional and I felt bad for our server despite our conversation by the tone the coworker was using with her. Just and odd experience in general considering we always are usually...
