So this place was better than I had expected. The chips (fries) were unlike any fries I had, but they were really good anyway. The chicken strip things they have are not small whatsoever and fill you up. So don't worry about that. And I liked them up to a certain point, but I think they might have been too vinegar-y to continue eating a lot, which I didn't mind, because I got full and they were good. I didn't know you could get chicken to look like that (kinda looks like a spider leg, but I liked it, even though I don't really like meat texture, so I guess they hid that sufficiently). The fry sauce does cost extra, about 25¢ from what I remember, so not a big deal for me but something to consider just in case (and it's a good amount of sauce, to me anyway). The dessert was way overpriced for me and I just didn't like it, but maybe it's because I'm just American. The staff were really nice. You might have to remind them to make your dessert. It's alright, though. There were a few color printer paper signs around the place regarding the employees, one of them was to treat them with respect, and the other one was that they were hiring people who will actually work. "Yes, you read that right" (paraphrased from the sign). The second one was a little weird to me, to have in the middle of the dining room, but it doesn't matter. Not a problem, but maybe others would be weirded out, too. If you've had employees who didn't work in the past, you can tell people who are interviewing that. Still, not a problem to me. They have a sort of gift shop of British goods and things like that which was nice. They have one of those blue phone booths you can step inside. Overall, it was a nice experience. I could see it as a place to come to again, once in a while (not all the time, of course, that probably wouldn't be healthy). It's a...

2.5 stars . First we had to wait in line to order for over 20 minutes. When we finally got to the counter to order I noticed several handwritten signs, a pet peeve of mine. It looks unprofessional. I feel they could use a POS system to help speed up the process as the order taker would hand write the order and then put them into an old cash register. When I received my receipt it only had prices on it, not itemized. We ordered many items as we wanted to try them. Fish and chips, hot tea, clam chowder, battered sausages, battered cheese sticks, hot chocolate, and a battered twinkie. When we went to find a seat it was difficult as there were many dirty tables. We received most of our order in a timely manner. It took a couple of minutes for someone to walk by and we asked for the clam chowder, hot chocolate, hot tea, and the twinkie. A couple of minutes later the clam chowder arrived and someone else came by and we asked again about the missing items. Several more minutes went by and we received the hot chocolate. When the lady went by again in a couple more minutes I asked for the third time for the rest of our order. It arrived several minutes later. By the time I received my hot tea I was done my food. Now for the positives! The ambiance is cute and refreshing. The booths have arches, there is a picture of the Queen as you walk in. There are many pictures and British memorabilia around the restaurant, there is also a small shoppe of imported British items. The food was delicious, (please salt your chips). There is no background music, which seemed weird. I am not sure if I can recommend this restaurant as much as the food deserves because of the...

The food here is amazing. Best fish and chips I've found since coming back from England. There is a reason these guys win awards every year. My problem is with the service and the overall state of the facility. Been a regular now for month and found that if my wife and I both order the 3 fish bites, 3 shrimp and chips (3x3xC) it's just too much food. We switched to ordering (1) 3x3xC and a kids meal 3 fish bites. Have been doing this for a while. Last time we were in we were told we could no longer order off the kids menu because this is a small family business. This would mean we would have to go back to ordering (2) 3x3xC OR (1) 3x3xC and (1) 3 Fish (Massive) and chips. Again just too much food. I don't care about the cost difference, I care about the amount of food going to waste since I can't even finish the chips when we were able to order the kids meal. Just wasteful. The place overall is a little run down; Seats are showing their age and starting to tear, floor is always sticky (it is fish and chips after all) and everything could use a coat of paint. If a business is going to make me spend a little more money just to give me more food that is going in the trash, then I will take my money elsewhere. I would think they would be happy I'm coming in at all. Needless to say my wife and I turned around and walked out. I really am sad I won't be visiting this place regularly anymore. Even my kids, when we would take...

I read several reviews that said Little Taste if Britain was the go to place for Fish & Chips so I was excited to give it a try. First of all the restaurant is a really good size, it is kitschy and very uniquely British, they even have a small area of British/European groceries you can purchase. The staff was very nice and friendly. My hubby and I both ordered the large Fish & Chips which comes with 2 large pieces of fish and fries, fry sauce is an extra .50 cents. (They are currently out of Piccadilly Chips until further notice, that was disappointing.) We decided to substitute one order of fries for onion rings, this ended up being a good decision as they were the best part of the meal. Now to the Fish, my husband really liked it, he felt it was better than most we have had lately. The beer batter was good, however mine was a bit soggy and fell apart easily. I eat for condiments, lol. I am all about the tartar sauce, hot sauce, fry sauce, etc. Having said that the tartar sauce was just meh, nothing special or even worth eating. I ended up using the malt vinegar that was present on the table. The fry sauce for the fries and onion rings was good. My hubby would give them a 4 star, I would only give them at most a 3 or a 3.5. If ever in the Layton area I would give them a try again, if for no other reason than my husband loves Fish & Chips.

This was a nice quaint little shop. Will say the fried batter was nice. Chips (fries) were nice and crispy with a good chew. However, the fish while fresh was still pretty greasy. Nothing on the plate to soak it up (like a piece of paper or something. The first piece was nice. They do give some very nicely sized pieces of fish. But by the time I got to the second piece, the one side was soaked through with extra grease and wasn't quite as good as that first piece. But definitely some good fish and average chips. Now onto a bit of a disappointment. I also tried the Shepard's Pie. I really love a good pie.. sadly this one fell a bit short. The mince was barely seasoned. Extremely bland. It tasted mostly of peas. The mash while nice and thick, didn't have much flavor at all. Again every bite, I could only taste peas and they aren't my favorite veggie. Maybe that's how a truly authentic pie is? But I've had better flavored pies at other pubs. Also tried their coleslaw. Which wasn't bad. Very very creamy, but missing that hit of salt. But nice crunchy cabbage and help cut through the grease of the chips. Overall, a nice little spot. Has a few imported British snacks and such. So still a fun place to visit. Probably come back to grab some colmans mustard and maltesers.

Ok, before I start, I'm British, I know chippy and this is not it. Don't be fooled by all the good reviews, if you're looking for a taste of home you're going to be overcharged and sorely disappointed. The majority of the reviews must have been left by people who didn't grow up eating these classics. I was so excited to eat here, we drove 45 minutes because chippy is my favorite food. I ordered the sausage and chips with gravy and my partner ordered the sausage roll and chips. It's came to $20 and we figured it was going to be a big portion. NOPE! You get a handful of chips and a tiny sausage roll. Honestly it's a rip off. I expected the portion to be like a bag of chips in the UK especially for the price and to get just a handful made my heart hurt. The chips aren't chippy chips. They're like chip-pan chips you make at home when missing chippy. The sausage roll had soggy pastry and was not crispy and flakey like it should be. To give them credit the gravy and vinegar were legit. The American server saying hello in a fake English accent was not cool. All in all, they're trying to get away with way over priced, sub-par versions of classics by over decorating.
