My wife and I stayed here as a stopover on our way home in Idaho from visiting our son and his fiancee in Durango, CO. We stayed just one night.
Our front desk clerk, I believe her name was Megen, was very nice, welcomed us, and gave us the lowdown of the property. It is actually very nice. The rooms are spacious suites, with a large fridge, microwave, dishes and cups, a desk, and a kitchenette counter area with a coffee maker. It would seem to be a place where people might have extended says, for business or personal. To that end, they don't provide housekeeping services until you've stayed 7 days, though the sign seem to say that they would do a full clean of your room if requested even if you stay less than the seven days. There is no complimentary breakfast, which is unusual for the hotels we typically stay at. Parking is free, though if the hotel was real busy you might have to park in the back where the dumpsters are (we didn't have to). When we checked in and after we had dinner, we did not see any business people, but did see a few interesting characters. Still, we felt v ery safe.
Our room had double queen beds. They were more comfortable than the other two hotels we stayed at on this trip, but I still was awakened with hip and back pain. The bathroom sink space allowed for both of us to have our toiletries, and there was a nice walk in shower with doors instead of curtains, which I thought was a nice touch. The shower water pressure was just OK, and the bathroom fan did not seem strong, though it did the trick.
There are a few good restaurants within walking distance, including a brewery right across the street, though we did not go there. Within a short drive there are many more options. The hotel is set back a few miles from the freeway, so it was very quiet. Except for the AC in the room, which when on, was VERY loud. Otherwise, it was very quiet.
All in all, we enjoyed our stay in our clean and spacious suite at a very reasonable rate. Very nice for a stopover. Layton, UT, seems like a...
Read moreWe used Candlewood Suites Layton as our base for our UK-to-USA trip, and it was a great choice. I spent the first week meeting a friend and client, then took a few days to explore more of Utah. The hotel was a lovely place to come back to — clean, quiet, and well-equipped.
The staff were consistently friendly and helpful. Megan at the front desk really stood out, she made us feel welcome from the start and was happy to answer questions. The reception area also had guides to local restaurants and attractions, which was a nice touch. There’s a well-stocked convenience store in the lobby, and I made good use of the laundry facilities during our stay.
Though we didn’t use them, there’s a gym, a lending locker (with items like crockpots and umbrellas), and a grill/patio area. We saw people enjoying the fire pit outside in the evening, and it looked like a great spot to relax.
The room itself was fantastic, with a full-size fridge-freezer, dishwasher, microwave, and hob. The bed was very comfortable, and the shower was powerful. I could even see the mountains from our window, which was a really lovely bonus. We had no issues at all. The only (very minor) complaint from my partner was that he didn’t love the warm vinyl flooring smell in the elevator — but hey, you can't please some people! If that's the only issue, it's an amazing place!
There’s plenty of parking both front and back, and the hotel backs onto a cinema. (We saw 28 years later, that was terrible but nothing to do with the hotel or cinema!) Target is just a 10-minute walk away, which was super convenient.
Overall, this hotel really felt like it was designed to make guests feel at home. We’d happily stay again....
Read moreBest hotel we've stayed in for the price. It's a newer hotel so everything is modern and updated.
ROOM: New appliances, large microwave, stove top built into countertop, full kitchenware for 2, and plenty of cupboard space. TV is new and has its own hotel software with a user-friendly interface that makes it easy to connect phone or game console. The bathroom has a large walk-in shower with a textured nonslip shower floor and built-in soap/shampoo dispensers. The A/C is controlled by an updated, easy to use thermometer on the wall in the kitchenette. Note: 2 ways they keep room costs down; no breakfast, and they only clean rooms once during your stay. You can specify which day upon check-in, and you can request clean towels or trash bags anytime. We stayed 9 days and loved the fact that no one was in our room every morning, and we didn't mind not having the breakfast option. We prefer newer updated rooms than a breakfast. LOBBY: Clean. It has an 'internet cafe' vibe to it; high tables with plugs and USB points with a large TV on the adjacent wall with comfortable lounge chairs, a modern coffee maker with creamers and travel cups, and a fireplace with lounge chairs. There is an outdoor gas fire pit next to a covered bbq area with 2 grills. Location is great for easy access to a freeway, major stores, restaurants, and convenient stores. Plus, it's right across the street from Roosters brewery which has a beautiful building. We definitely...
