For starters presentation is important to me so walking in and seeing the amount of work put in to make the first impression perfect was fantastic. As someone who has always enjoyed working in customer service and sales there are always signs of they typical "salesperson" trying to cash in but absolutely not here. We were greeted like old friends even being noticably in our 20s. The first few seconds in the store made a BIG impact on how I feel especially at a jewelry store. I went in with low expectations much because of my previous experiences as jewelry stores. They proved me very wrong.
I was there asking about getting a vintage watch serviced and not only did they take care of me but they went above and beyond. We talked about watches and watchmaking, they asked questions as if trying to get to know me. They shared stories about the watchmaker they have servicing the watches and we talked about auctions and buying vintage watches. I cannot express enough how good they made me feel as a customer even if not spending a lot of money.
I will admit I was still very nervous in the sense of I was sending something special to me off to someone who is not myself. That's not normal for me, I like to do things myself. I did probably bug them a bit when I called in a few times asking if there was any update but never did they make me feel like a burden. They answered my question without hesitation which to me helped me build confidence in the service.
I can't speak for the service itself yet because I haven't went to pick up the watch, but, I have such great confidence after working with them that it's going to be perfect. Even when they called to let me know it was ready it felt like she was as excited to tell me it was ready as I was hearing it was ready! I could not be happier that I walked into Rome Jewelers on that Saturday.
Sorry for the lengthy review, but, of all the "sales" environments, especially jewelry stores, that I have been in never once have I been as pleased as I was here. Absolutely I recommend giving your business to Rome Jewelers as I certainly will be.
I can't wait to pick up my watch today and I'll provide a much less lengthy update on how it turned out. I'll also add some photos because it seriously is a beautiful store. 😊
Update on the service, it is perfect! It is extremely affordable compared to other quotes I had. The watch is running in perfect time where as previously it was running quite slow. I'll add a picture of the watch post service. It's a 1970s Hamilton. I forgot to get pictures of the inside but seriously you should...
Read moreHad a very nice collection. Owner was very nice and discussed coins with show of knowledge. Another customer came into the store and he left his daughter to wait on me. I had a question on price of three items. She took them to the owner and he gave me a very fair price on those coins. I then found three other coins I was going to buy, but one had two different prices on it. Granted the difference was only a dollar, but the daughter told me the higher price was what she was going to charge me. I said no, it is marked lower, and I was willing to pay that. She said NO, she would put it in a new flip with the higher price. At that point I couldn't trust anything she said, so I told her I was not interested in any of the coins. I told the owner that he had a missed marked a coin and I was sorry I couldn't do business with them and left the shop. So for one dollar, they lost a sale that could have been more than that. Changing prices or crossing out a price right in front of someone ready to buy isn't really good business.
Three years ago I wrote a 1 Star review on Hallmarked Jewelers, and it was not kind, but correct. Last fall I was in the city again, and just happened to walk by what had been Hallmarked Jewelers, it was now Rome Jewelers. I thought, I have some time, I'll at least stop and see what they had and IF they were different than Hallmarked. I was very suprised, I met a young man by the name of Marc Sodini, he said he was just filling in that day, and I thought, here we go again. The more I talked with him, he explained that he had read my review of Hallmarked. He was pleased that I came in again, and this time to visit Rome Jewelers. As we talked, he told me that he was the Vice-President of the company. I was surprised that a vice-president was filling in, but he said it needed to be done, so he did it. Great attitude, I was just sorry he did have anything that I was interested in, that day. Since that time, he and I have talked with each other over the telephone. I am very impressed with him and his organization, that is why I have changed my rating to 5 stars. I will deal with Marc and Rome Jewelers again.
I was in the area recently and stopped in the store. I met Sonya, the store manger, very nice. The store and the mangement are light years beyond my first visit to Hallmarked years ago. When in the area I will stop again at Rome Jewelers. I would recommend anyone interested stop by, you may run into Sonya or Marc, nice,...
Read moreWORST experience in shopping EVER! Went into this shop on May 11-my birthday with 2 friends. There were a tot of 4 customers in the shop which included me and my 2 friends. We were browsing and were approached by the sal s clerk who told us we needed to leave. When asked why, she stated there were too many people in the shop. WHAT???? We were so humiliated that we won't shop there ever again. Heed this warning if you visit the shop and this more than 1 customer in the place, you will probably be told to leave. TERRIBLE...
