Disappointed by the Experience â Beautiful Space, Unwelcoming Staff
My partner and I were really looking forward to visiting Lagg Bookstore after hearing so many wonderful things about it. As a space founded by women for women who love romance novels, we were excited to support a place that promotes empowerment and community.
The store itself is beautifully curated, with a thoughtful and cozy atmosphere that immediately caught our attention. However, the experience quickly took a turn due to the staff.
There were three employees present during our visit, and unfortunately, none of them acknowledged us when we walked inâno greeting, no âwelcome,â no offer to assist us. Two other customers in the store actually gave us more warmth and friendliness than the staff did. When my partner approached the counter to ask about a specific book, she was met with a curt and dismissive response: simply that the book was out of stock. No follow-up, no offer to check when it might be available, and no effort to continue the conversation or provide help.
As we left, there was again no acknowledgmentâno âthank you,â âhave a great day,â or even a simple goodbye. For a space that is meant to be inviting and empowering, it didnât feel safe or welcoming.
We truly wanted to love this place. The concept is amazing, and the store itself is visually stunning. But unfortunately, due to the unwelcoming and unfriendly attitude from the staff, weâll be taking our business elsewhere. I hope this feedback is received in the spirit itâs intendedâconstructive and honestâbecause we genuinely want to see this bookstore thrive and become the inclusive, safe space it was meant to be.

Read moreI was not impressed with my experience. When I pulled into the parking lot, most of it was blocked off by a huge tent. Everyone inside the tent looked at me and went back to what they were doing. Turning off my car, I opened my car door and asked âis the bookstore closed?â to which one person said âno, this is an eventâ while another employee began laughing at me. The first employee told me to pull around to the other parking (where a sign was that said that it was a private lot and there was no parking). I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt so I pulled into the other lot, parked and went inside. The cashier did not greet me (but greeted everyone after me), The store was small, crammed, and stuffy. Also, I donât think this place markets itself as a secondhand store but a lot of the books were damaged. A very unpleasant experience, and I wonât be back. If you want a pleasant experience, head to Bookbox in Draper, or Poppyâs in...
Read moreLiving around the globe, Iâve visited a lot of quaint bookstores, but this one truly takes the cake. Laag is entirely dedicated to romance novels. What I absolutely love about Laag is how thoughtful the owners are with their selection. Not only do they carry all the most popular titles, but they also carve out space for lesser-known works by the same authors â a true gift for readers who want to dive deeper. You can tell these ladies actually read what they sell as they are properly organized in the correct genre. Everything is easy to find, thoughtfully curated, and beautifully displayed. It's cute, it's smart, and I am so...
