BCR Music School — Local services in Lemoyne

The music program at BCR has definitely exceeded my expectations so far. Earlier this year when I was looking for a good local guitar teacher, I wasn’t sure if I would be able to find anything. From shopping at BCR, I somehow heard about their music program, so I decided to look on the BCR website to gather info on the teachers and see if any of them would a be right fit for me. After a little bit of consideration, I decided to take lessons from Ryan Chilcote. After sending him a form, he got back to me that same day over email, and we schueduled our first lesson!

Although I can’t give any feedback on the other teachers as I’ve never had lessons from them, I can assure you that Ryan is a fantastic teacher whom can teach any skill level and age.

There were a couple main things I wanted from a guitar teacher, and that if they were not properly met, I would have had no problems ending lessons. These main things included being a fantastic guitar player, (don’t wanna learn from somebody who can’t play well!) Having good communication, flexibility, and being a great teacher who is kind and has much musical knowledge. Needless to say I had some pretty high expectations, but I can assure you that these expectations have been met for me.

I haven’t even been taking lessons for that long yet, but I’ve already filled in a couple gaps in my music theory knowledge, learned to properly sweep pick, and improved my picking and left hand technique drastically. Like many others, I decided to pick up the guitar during the early part of the pandemic. After a few months of trying to learn on my own, I knew I’d need real instruction to develop a foundation for future progress. I elected to take on weekly virtual lessons with Tyler.

I had a great experience with Tyler and the BCR music school. He was always very professional, knowledgeable, and communicated clearly to help me understand new concepts. He adapted curriculum to fit my individual needs and musical interests, and he made an effort to incorporate those interests into our lessons. BCR is one of the best businesses in the area. They care about their customers and that shines through in literally everything they do. The attitude in the shop is always positive, there is a contagious energy when you go in there. I have bought guitars and accessories from BCR and will not go anywhere else.

A few months back I started taking lessons with Brian and it has been amazing. Brian asked what I wanted to get from the lessons and his plans have been amazing. I needed to learn the basics and he has delivered. Every week I feel like a get a new piece of a puzzle. Brian is patient, beyond knowledgeable and is a wonderful teacher.
